[SOLVED] CDJ Aggregator Tool for Traktor HID control - on stage and under pressure.

I want to take over from the previous DJ that is using CDs and use the CDJ2000's in HID control mode with Traktor. I want to use the CDJ Aggregator Tool to connect up the 2 CDJ2000's to Traktor but cannot interrupt the DJ currently playing.

Can I connect the CDJs to my Mac and use the Aggregator Tool without interrupting him? Will the CDJs stop playing while I use the tool, start up Traktor and adjust prefs to ready myself to play?

On a similar note : once I have used the Tool to aggregate the 2000's, will my Mac recognize 2000's (and even 900's) the next time I connect them or do i have to use the Tool every time I play?

Well, in order to engage the players to start communicating with the computer you'll need switch them away from the CD source. So what you are trying to achieve cannot, currently, be done. Your best option is to play a track from a third input source through the mixer while you configure your setup.

Thanks for that Gavin. Playing a track from a third deck would work.

I decided to try it all out this past weekend and got everything to work perfectly except for 2 major audio drop outs. When i connected the cdjs up, the Aggregator Tool worked and Traktor recognized them. I hit the "link" button on the cdj, now i was instructed to turn the encoder to select deck A or B obviously but the cdj would not respond. The only fix was to reset the cdj, being inexperienced with this new workflow I had no idea what this would do, It caused Traktor to freak out and drop audio for 2 seconds before continuing playback again. This happened again when I turned the cdj back on. Its obvious why it happened and thats not my concern, my concern is why did it not respond when I tried to select a Deck? This was fairly embarrassing for me and I would like to know if there is something I didnt do.... Is the only solution to play a track out of Deck C while I reset each cdj and then connect them up? Does Traktor not need to be restarted when connecting the CDJs to it after being reset?

I hope you can answer all these questions!

@John > I'm not quite sure why that happened. I'd connect both your CDJs via USB to your laptop before opening Traktor. Of course, I would also recommend you test this out when you aren't in a live-audio environment.
