Hi all,
I bought my first every cdj 2000s yesterday second hand. I've got them home to discover that one of the job wheels feels and sounds different to the other. When i spin the platter or even just move it, its make a horrible scratchy sound and is alot stiffer than the other one, a little less sensative too. Obviously there is a problem with it. Just wondered if anybody could tell me what this problem is and how it can be sorted?

could be a couple of things, if you are a little tech save, take it apart and clean up the track
could be stuff fell in and got under the platter, wheels are all dirty now
worn out wheels from use
needs to be cleaned and possibly needs a little of the pioneer magic oil :)
could be off track BUT if that was the case it would be very hard to get a good spin out of it at all
It might be worth me taking a look inside it then. Thanks for getting back to me. If it is the job wheel that is worn out, is it an expensive repair

No not at all. Usually just cleaning up the rollers and getting the gunk out helps a lot
Cheers BriChi, i took the jog wheel out and it looked like the previous owner has spilt some pop in there that has gone sticky. cleaned it up, works fine.

Just a query really..
Say you had this problem and didn't feel comfortable taking your CDJ apart couldn't you send it off to Pioneer for some sort of service and a clean up being that it's second hand.?? If so how much do you think they'll charge.
I made a post a few weeks back about my Rotary button being a bit loose and flimsy even tho i bought the cdj's brand new. It still works but is really bothering me and i have been thinking about sending it in to Pioneer to take it apart and some how tighten or fix the Rotary knob.
Pioneer does do (or at least they did years ago), A flat fee to have your decks "overhauled", they clean them up, fix small issues and make them feel like new. I believe it was around $250US, things may have changed though, You may want to call them if you anyone was really interested

@Wesley > You shouldn't risk taking apart the CDJ, at all. Drop it off at a service centre.
