[CLOSED] Sort By Key

Greetings all...

Wondering if someone could let us know why when I sort by Key on my CDJ2000 Nexus it does not display the Camelot key ?

Mixed in Key version 5, Works ok with my CDJ2000, have tried different tracks..

Thanks in advanced.

Pioneer does not license the Camelot system, so they use standard notation in the Key Field in Rekordbox.

I like to use Camelot notation so I have been keeping standard keys in the Key field, and placing the Camelot numbers in the comments field.  This approach gives me the best of both worlds, since I have the information stored in both formats.  If I sort by Comments, then I get the Camelot keys.

@AC.. A lot of us have been asking for this for a long time. Hopefully Pioneer and mixed vibes can come up with a way for MIK to show up on the CDJ under the KEY. What I do right now is either make playlist with each key. Or i just search the key I want and drag and drop... Since we can't control RB with the CDJ... RB don't have to analyze the music in Camalot form... It just has to let us use MIK analyzed key's. So it really shouldnt make a difference if they own or don't own the license.. If it can be used in Traktor and Serato... They should be able to adjust RB as well.

Sounds to me like the best solution would be for Rekordbox to have Smart Playlists like iTunes.  That way you could set up playlists for compatible keys which update automatically.  I did this in iTunes a few years ago and it worked well, but I never really stuck with it.

Do we really want to have to use another program on top of MIK AND RB to get to use the camalot keys?? I DON'T! 2 programs are enough.. So sorry fuse and gavin I'm not a fan of that idea. Running music through MIK. They sorting it in iTunes... THEN RB?? That is way too much IMO. Pioneer needs to make it so that MIK analyzed music shows up in the "KEY" field on the cdj's. If it can show up in the Key field in RB without using the RB key analyzing. Then they should be able to have it show up on the cdj. MIK tells you how to set it up to for RB... So Pioneer needs to let that happen so we can see it on the cdj. Simple.... IMO.

@Pete > You could scan your tracks with MiK and enable writing the Camelot keys to the comments field. Then sort by Comments in rekordbox and create playlists that way - you don't necessarily need iTunes. Hey, if you are willing to do the translation you don't even need MiK. Pioneer, I don't believe, are prepared to license the Camelot system from MiK so we are providing an alternative to facilitate your workflow.

I have made key playlist already Gavin. And if you turn off the RB key analizing then the MIK shows up in the RB** key** colum. It's getting that to show up on the CDJ under** key** that I would like... And i'm not sure why it don't do that if it's already in the Key colum on RB on the laptop that is linked to the Nexus system? And why Pioneer would need to License anything when it's already part of the MIK directions on how to get the key to show in RB.. All Pioneer/Mix vibes need to do is to have what is in the "KEY" colum show on my nexus players. It all dont make sense to me really? Traktor or serato piicks up the MIK.. And so does RB.. So why can't it be displayed under the KEY colum on the cdj when its in the key colum on my laptop? That just seems like a simple s/w update to me. Licenses?? Not needed. Just get RB to talk to the CDJ the way it's supposed to, and the information should just transfer to the cdj... Isn't that what Pioneer wants? They want us to use RB. Not Serato. Not Traktor. Just have the system talk to each other the way they said it would.
