[CLOSED] BEAT SYNC , IS THIS A LONG WAY OFF BEING GOOD ENOUGH TO USE ?

I don't know if I should cry or scream after investing £4000 plus on this set up. Im and established and very technical dj and ive been dj'ing on 3/4 decks for over 23 years now. I felt the need to chase the latest technology so when I get to clubs I know whats going on with every function.  what interested me was the fact that I could mix loops  on 4 decks without having to chase them all to keep them in bpm, also keeping the fx bang on in time was a must for me.

I have linked all my cdj2000 nexus's and my djm900 nexus together now, all wired up perfectly. After just 5 mins of testing the beat sync with a cdj and the djm900 mixer effects. I thought I would try how accurate the mixer was and played a track, then I looped a clap and shortened the loop so I got a constant high pitch sound. i made sure quantise was on the mixer and when i moved the cdj tempo the bpm moved on the mixer so that was all synced ok. i hit transform on 1/1 beasts so the transform sound came in on every beat and i left it to see if it was bang on accurate... It floated out of time after about 20 secs and just kept getting worse and worst like it was not getting time codes... this is the reason i bought all this and its just like the djm800 ..... hows everyone else feel about this, ????  im interested in any answers and experience as im still within 14 days and may send these back ..

also im wondering if you can sync 2 cdj2000 nxs's to the mixers beat grid without having to use the beat sync on the cdjs, meaning i want to match the bpms myself but want the mixer to follow my ajustments on both cdj's ?

just to add to this the timing is not down to the beat grid being wrong in recordbox because i tested it with a 4 bar loop in which i stayed in time for a while but then drifted slowly out..

the shorter the transform timing the longer it stays in time with the cdj track.

sure its frustrating, at least is not a problem with my set up, just needed to check , hopefully they will sort this with the next firmware which is likely as they sorted timeing on the rmx1000 with a firmware update....

what is it with equipment these days , you buy the goods and they its never how it should be until its had many updates..

I've only had the unit for a year but from reading on the forums, it sounds like there's been drift issues with the DJM900 quantize since its release.  You'll notice similar behavior if you let loops generated by the DJM900 FX run for 20 seconds or so.  It's good for a few turns but can't rely on it for much more than that.  I'm only speculating here but given that this issue was pointed out to Pio back when the unit was released and still nothing's been done about, I'm certainly not expecting a fix - just accepting it as one of the setup's limitations.  Oh and you're definitely not alone - I was just as fired up about it when I first picked up my gear as well.

yeah its around 20 secs , then it starts to go. i have a rmx 1000 which is far better for the roll/sampling, at least you can nudge it back in but it seems to keep time better,  hopefully they will fix it!

Please let someone could tell me if the CDJ 2000 Beat Sync nexus works even without a mixer, having only two players CDJ 2000 nexus. Thanks again.

I think this could be a problem of recordbox and of how accurate is the bpm analyze on each track.

@Giancarlo Palmieri: I think the Beat Sync works if you link the two CDJ's with the ethernet cable.  I don't think you have to link them to the mixer.  Just LINK the CDJ's to each other, using the included ethernet (network) cable.  Then, the CDJ's can "talk" to each other.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.  I do not own the CDJ-2000 Nexus, but I use them a lot in clubs.

You are right.  The mixer is not needed.  Don't expect your "on air " light to turn red, for that, you need the mixer.
