"Nexus" Slow load times, Cues just blink while loading for 10-15 seconds

This happens to me minimum 2-3 times per event and of course it happens when I need to load a track fast and play it for intros or something like that. I load a track that has 1-3 set hot cues and the cues just blink for a good 10-15 seconds and the deck is useless during this time and then finally it loads. This scares the crap out of me when I need to play a track fast that an MC may be into'ing and I am not ready due to the screw up of the player.

I have reported this before, is it being investigated, Friends of mine also have this issue and still need to fall back on Serato because of it, it sucks. please update us on whether or not something is being done

this happens on both a USB drive plugged in or RB linked through a laptop

BriChi,

Hope you get a response from Pioneer soon on this but I was just thinking about this issue and thought I share my thoughts...

If we think of the player as a computer or a drive, maybe the operating system or something on it is corrupt so maybe try calling tech support and see if there is a way for you to format the players.

Also on that note, have you tried reloading the firmware one more time? At this point, I can't see what harm it would do.  Get a fresh copy and flash it again.

Good luck bud.

thanks for the info Walter_white (LOVE that forum name by the way, lol)

I can't see it being anything related to just my decks, 2 other friends of mine have the Nexus', they use RB from a laptop and also from USB at times and complain about this same issue to me. I told them I would post here to see if maybe Pioneer would look into this and fix it, it makes me so nervous every time I have to do any sort of major introductions or fast switches

This never happened to me, but I still use a 32 GB usb stick...almost full and I'm afraid I'll need to get a small USB drive soon and then bump into this problem.

IMHO I'd say that the culprit is the CDJ operating system that is not able to navigate quickly enough in the USB drive or thru the network on rekordbox when there are many files. I'm afraid that here the problem might be quite complex to solve for Pioneer...possibly redesign the whole file management system in their os.

Is anyone using a normal USB stick or SD card under 64 GB having this issue?

Thanks BriChi.  Yes, I use a 16GB and a 32GB and have seen this but not all the time.  Mind you, I have not used them as often as you guys would.

It also happens to me on a 1.5 TB WD passport.

that's interesting walter, i'd have thought that the problem would be related to the memory device size. never happened to me on my 32 GB usb stick. I don't play very often with the cdjs, maybe once or twice a week and generally i play for 2-3 hours. I played once more than 4 hour and still didn't have problems.

I had only once a total slowdown and horrible freezing and that was the only time I tried to stream directly from rekordbox via wifi. that was just a test out of curiosity, but i never tried again because for me the whole point to get the cdjs was to be able to play without the computer. after that test i even removed the router and now my cdjs are directly connected with an ethernet cable, without wifi router in between.

That brings up another idea and another question: is there anybody that uses the CDJs without the router, just directly connected with one cable, who has freezing/slowdown problems? Maybe the bug stems from the connection with the router...

the track that locked up my deck Saturday was from a USB drive plugged directly into the deck so it rules out the router all together

The other day..... I was getting ready to play a song and I had about 1min left and went to load the next track I was playing and all i saw was an empty screen with it blinking and this def scared me a little... I know it wasn't going to crash but I wasn't able to do anything with the track for a good 15 seconds.....

I also noticed that once a track is loaded it has to see the cues you made load those and then it ready to go. There has to be a way it can load the track entirely in one shot so we don't see the latency in the load time.....

I agree Marc, the auto load is great, but needs a lot of improvement, and in this deck, not in an MK2 version of it for another $2000 a piece

Just an update, now I have my music on a small hard disk (Toshiba 320 GB, 2.5", USB 3.0, no external power supply). I played yesterday for 3 hours, no issues at all (well one hardware issue, i put the hard disk on one turntable and the vibrations when running propagated to my amplifier LOL).

Thinking about the differences between my setup and those of who have the loading problems, I can't see any now. The only thing that comes to my mind is the hot cues. I don't use them, i might have probably not more than 20 tracks on my drive with some hot cues.

Do you guys who get the slow loading bug have a lot of hot cues in your library? Maybe it's them that slow down the loading.

it's definitely related to the hot cue loading, If I have tracks with none or a track that the hot cues do not auto load, I have no issues, it always seems to be when trying to load A B or C, it just blinks for 20 seconds and eventually the track becomes playable

at least let the track play immediately and load the cues in the background so it doesnt jam us up!
