[OPEN] CDJ 2000 Nexus - Link Issue between two CDJ's

Hi all,

I am currently linking two CDJ 2000 Nexus players via a LAN cable to each other.  When I switch them on they recognise each other and I am able to use both CDJ's with no issues,  However after around fifteen minutes player 2 goes into an emergency loop and the player numbers on both CDJ's begin to flash as if they are attempting to recognise each other again.  It is always player two that goes into an emergency loop.  Highly annoying, especially when gigging.

I first suspected it may be my SD card, so switched to USB 3.0 and the issue still persists.  I have also changed LAN cable twice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

I don't have a solution for you and I would guess this is one of those bugs that needs to be addressed but in the meantime, try changing player 2 to player 1 and player 1 to player 2 (via the on screen) and see if the issue follows the "new" player 2.

If the problem follows, to me, this would suggest something being wrong within the software generally.  If the problem stays on the side you have the issue on originally (now player 1), then that would suggest to me that the problem is with the player and I am not suggesting it has to be hardware but definitely something with that particular player.

Let us know how you make out.

Good Luck!

@Andy > Are the players manually numbered or are they assigned automatically? If they aren't numbered manually, disconnect any USB cables, ethernet cables, USB and SD devices and go to the settings to manually assign the player numbers. You could try changing them (as @walter_white suggests) however I don't believe that is the source of the problem.

After manually assigning the player numbers, check the ethernet jacks on both players to ensure that they are firm and no pins inside the jack have been bent or are out of place.

Once you have reconnected the players and they are communicating, try connecting your USB / SD source to the OTHER player than you normally would. Eg, if you normally connect it to player 1, connect it to player 2 (the one which seems to always go into emergency loop). Test and report back please!

The players were assigned automatically.  I tried manually entering the player numbers and switched the player number around and put my USB into player two (previously player one).  After a short while player one went into an emergency loop.  I have checked the ethernet ports and all pins are intact and are in place.  I then reconnected the ethernet cables up and put the USB into player one.  I played the first track, loaded a track into player two, then the track info disappeared and the player numbers on both CDJ's were flashing as if the LAN connection was interrupted.

When gigging I always leave the LAN cable plugged into the original player one and connect to player two.  From the symptoms I have described I'm thinking the ethernet port may need changed in player two.

Whats your thoughts?

This may sound crazy but please try this one for me...What I am thinking is hard to explain but it's something along the lines of managing the data...

Try using a switch to see if it will solve anything.

Walter, not too sure what you mean by a switch, do you mean a router?  If so I have tried linking them through a router and the same happened.  Emergency loop etc etc.  However I have used a different network cable; one spare that came with the CDJ's; and it's been ok for a few hours.

Ya that's basically what I meant. OK I hope that fixes it.  If it does, you may want to go back to the "bad" cable again just to be certain.

@Andy > It does sound like it could be a bad port; please contact Pioneer technical support via the contacts to the right. You can refer them to this thread so they can see our conversation to date.

Hi Andy,

Did you find a solution to this? I have the same issue, also with player two. Tried changing servers with rekordbox, USB sticks, SD cards and what not, but I need to restart my player two every 15 minutes. Before it goes into the emergency loop it also acts really slow and it takes a long time to load playlists on the display. Tried updating firmware to 1.24 without any success.

Thanks for a quick reply. I contacted the place i bought my players, and they also said it could be related to an issue with the network port. So before i was going to hand it over to the service department, i tried a cotton swab and isopropanol to clean the rj45 connection. So far it seems to be working great :-)
Thanks for the help!
