[CLOSED] Xdj aero update!

Hello everyone-

I am curious about issues with this DJ system.  I have the DDJ SX which I love to death but I have some club dates coming up where I have to use their CDJ system with USB stick.  I don't own CDJs and I am not lugging my laptop and buying a serato box. So I thought I could buy an Aero to just use Rekordbox and prepare my sets for the big systems.  I like the R1 but it seems huge.  I ditched my CDs ages ago and I am quite happy with it so I thought buying the huge R1 with CDJs would be silly. 

So the Aero has no Cue points- but maybe could but it's a gamble.  What is the issue with the vinyl mode?  I am trying to determine if it handles more like a midi controller pad then a CDJ?   Biggest hesitation in buying it at the moment is also the price.  The R1 is priced lower here in the states which is annoying because it does more.  I just hesitate because it's so huge and I am not sure I want something I can't take on travels.

The issue with vinyl mode is that the top of the platters always function as vinyl. Meaning if you touch them, play stops and you can scratch. On real CDJs, there is a button to switch between vinyl mode and CDJ mode, where in CDJ mode, the top of the platter acts the same as the sides, so moving it back and forth simply slows down or speeds up the track.

The biggest issue with me about cue points has partially been solved with the first update, because you can set a memory cue where you would like the track to start, and the XDJ will load up the track at that point, but I still like to jump to my outros so it still has room for improvement :(

Yeah even midi controllers you can switch between vinyl and CDJ type mode.

Yeah it's weird about the Cue points.

I am reading over FAQ on pioneer site to grasp the difference in Aero and R1- like what do I gain etc.

I don't own an ipad but do have an iphone.  The screen looks more legible on the R1

The FWD/RWD buttons are not there, but don't forget that the functionality is: you can hold the Shift button and move the platter back or forward.

I Just put a R1 on order. The price is good and cheaper then the aero. If I dislike the R1 I foresee no issues with selling it or trading for an Aero. We shall see

I'm getting a White Aero this weekend. Really looking forwards to having an Aero again (traded in for a CDJ 2000 and then sadly had to sell all my setup a few weeks back so am starting to build up a Pio setup again).

I've 'ummed and ahhed' about which to go for between the Aero and the fabulous looking R1 but decided the portability, USB recording and the rekordbox phone app prep were the features I really wanted but would have loved if there was some way to have added hotcue funcionality to the device. 

I'm  guessing thats now not happening, and always wondered if there was a tech limitation problem about this and if it was as the device when streaming never had the full track, so jumping forwards and back could be a prob. Just wondered if that was so, if there was a way to maybe have four bars after each 'hotcue point' maybe buffered/cached in the memory just so if a user were to jump there would be some 'instant' part of a track and maybe streaming could continue from that point?! Guess even if that was poss people would then ask for slip mode or something extra hehe.

Ah well, really hope you do continue to develop updates for this unit and looking forwards to getting mine this weekend.

And I downloaded Remotebox app and that is what sold me.  Very intriguing app and I thought it would be lame on the iphone but to my surprise it is a nice add on.

You can run a demo mode on the app.

If I could request a feature addition tho for the Aero/CDJ2000nxs users who use the Rekorbox iphone app. The track browsing on the Remotebox is an excellent implementation. Is it possible to add this to the Rekordbox iOS/Android browser ?

I have thought about the recording issue and I was thinking there has to be a way to stream it or connect it somehow to a computer and run something to record. I also know there is a product out there to record like this

It's interesting that the XDJ-AERO's manual speaks extensively about switching Vinyl mode on or off, see the attachment.

So it would be legally good idea to have that actual cdd/Vinyl-mode implemented.

I am very upset to see that Pioneer have taken out features intended to be used in the manual. This should be fixed and added in the next update or I can see a lot of angry customers.
