XDJ-R1 current status

I just got mines like two days ago. Today I ran mines for 7 or 9 hrs straight I had no problem wit mines. I got the lastest firmware. I use traktor and USB scan by reckordbox. It was good! No freeze and bum was good. But has to be run threw reckordbox. Good luck. And hoped I helped

Anytime! I know how you feel. I did my research on this unit for like 9 month before getting it. I feel confident that it could hold. Just hope they keep doing updated as needed and they will keep updated the app too

Basically I will be using the unit with VDJ and stand-alone,  can you just specify if these things run as they should?

• Does the unit still freeze?

• Is the audio running through the headphones delayed towards the master?

• Can the unit load tracks that are downloaded from youtube or other videosites (analyzed by Rekordbox)?

• Overall performance?

Well I don't have VJ but I did use it with traktor pro for at least 9 hours straight
And switch from USB in between. No freeze up during that time. Only issue I had was that I could not hear nothing threw my headphone. It's most likly the tsi file. Got it from the pioneer site. Now getting tracks from YouTube and video site. Well sound quality might not be that great. Am sure it would run threw rekordbo. it should be ok. But keep in mind sound quality might be poor. Overall all performance was not bad. Running it with the new firmware 1.10. So far am happy with it. My best advise to you is try to test it out at you local dealer. Or see if they have satisfaction guaranteed money back. This way you can see for yourself on hand if it's worth you getting. My good friend had this unit before me. And he did live gigs a few time. No problem with him. But he only use it with USB and cd. No freeze with him. Hope that help. Keep me posted on what you do. Good luck

Honestly...

I wouldn't do it. I regret spending so much on it. While stabiility sure has improved, there are still countless irritating workflow bugs.

For example:

• Hot Cues do not work in the way you'd expect (as they do on CDJ). You hit a hotcue, even if the unit is paused it starts playing so you can't set your main cue point to the hot cue, which makes going through your tracks and setting up hot cues a waste of time. They take AGES to load too.

• Single play mode still doesn't work. With auto cue mode off the unit will literally just play through a playlist without stopping. Even with Auto Cue on you can scratch back into the last record which makes scratch and dropping more difficult than it should be. 

• Some combinations of files and loops still cause the dreaded high pitch whine. There are still stability issues. Just last week my unit hard locked up seemingly corrupting a USB drive in the process. Latest firmware.

DJ Pulse on this forum has been excellent in answering questions but still no word from Pioneer engineering.  I'm gutted because it seemed so promising and I just feel disappointed. Wish I'd got the Aero.

Dario! Seem to me two things. 1 could be a bad file or 2 maybe got mess up when analyzing threw rekordbox
What kind of format is the file? And have you re analyzing it threw rekordbox?
Joe- I had the xdj aero which I regret selling that was a solid unit too. Got it when it first came out. That's why I got the r1. R1 it's not too bad. Not sure if pioneer will continue with updates for that unit. Or they having a new all in one coming out soon. Only think I like to see is. An iPad rekordbox so it can work with the r1.

My fear is that an R2 or whatever comes out, and we'll be left with the ever glitchy R1 :'(. Really need some reassurance on this. 

Let's hope not! Even if they do come out with a new one. I won't get it right away. Seem like every pioneer gear never has a good start.

When did the first problems with YOUR unit occur? How long did you have it when they started?

Matijas, I've seen this issue on each release of firmware.  I buy the unit, try it, experience it lock up, then return it for refund.  Guitar Center expects to see me every time there's a new firmware.  I went in there the other day to pick up a set of needles, and had to stop my guy from grabbing one from the back and said 'not this time' lol

Regardless, I don't hold too much hope for expedient issue resolution for either R1 or RB3, because why would behavior change given the prevailing circumstances?  If anything, folks internally are likely nervous as hell and spending work time updating their resumes (if it were silicon valley, they'd already be jumping ship).  Oh, and good luck hitting that 1/2 billion sale price...

So far I had mines for a week. And seem pretty ok for now. Am just using USB with tracks analyze by rekordbox. My good friend had his since January and he said he don't have any issue with his. He running it with 1.09 and I got mines at 1.10. Seem ok. I use mines like 2 to 3 hours straight. Last week I use it 9 hours went ok. Am still going to hammer it away to see if I get any issue this week. I still have time to return if I do. I'll keep posted if anything happens
