[TICKETED] XDJ RX - LINK mode "Now Loading" & USB Issues

The controller is connected to the computer via the ethernet cable. I click on "LINK" on Rekordbox and when I load any track which has been analysed, it just says "Now Loading" on the controller screen and nothing happens.

The other issue, when I export the tracks to the USB stick, and try to play them, it says the tracks need to be rekordbox analysed, yet they already have been!

Is my unit messed up or is it a software issue? - I used to use the XDJ R1, do I need to reinstall Rekordbox or should it let me transition over to the XDJ RX with no issues?

The reason your USB export isn't reading is that you likely haven't changed your export settings from when you used the R1:

I don't think that has anything to do with the track not loading over the link, but maybe make that change, close the software, re-open it and try again.

Unfortunately that USB setting is already correct.

I have tried installing a fresh copy of Rekordbox on my laptop, and I get the same message with the newly added tracks.

I must have a broken unit. :(

@David > Did you try formatting your USB export device and re-export from scratch?

Is your firewall disabled on the laptop?

Initially I tried on my desktop PC, where I had these issues. I tried LINK from my laptop, with a fresh library of just 4 tracks, and LINK worked. My desktop has about 600 tracks and none seem to load into the XDJ.

A new USB stick has also worked, looks like I need to reformat my original one.

I just need to figure out why my desktop LINK wont seem to load the tracks.. Atleast my unit isn't broken :))

Thanks for your fast responses Pulse.

At first time I had the same issue with loading tracks via Link. Now I´m direct connected to my Mini Mac with a shorter cable and it works fine.

@David > It could simply be the firewall preventing communication over the LINK. The other thing to check is that you don't have both a wired and wireless network connection at the same time; disable the wireless (if applicable).

As @Holger points out, it could also be a bad ethernet cable.

I don't know, I'm using the same security on my desktop as the laptop.

Another issue I'm having which is pretty major, after about an hour of using the USB, the unit will lock up where it cannot load the next track - the existing one keeps playing but I cannot change it. When I try ejecting the USB - the red light wont go off - and it says "now loading".

@David > That was a pretty broad statement and without knowing details about your "security" configuration, I would still guess that there is something within those settings that is causing the problem.

Does the issue with the USB loading freeze occur with the same track every time regardless of how long you use it, or does the freeze happen after a specific amount of time regardless of the track loaded?

Pulse, the problem is with my router for LINK. I am using two routers - a TP Link ADSL, and an Asus RT66U - the wired connection from the Asus didn't let me load Rekordbox tracks, but the TP Link did. However, the Asus let me load LINK wirelessly to the laptop..

The USB loading issue occurs on LINK mode just the same as USB. It is not a specific track, but it happens everytime you click the "next track" button - about the 70th time but not exact. If you do it simultaneously on both players at the same time it will do it quicker - if you want to try and replicate it. When it locks up - it will still say the next track number as you cycle through tracks, but it will say "now loading" and you cannot load into either player. I'm sure others will begin to report this issue soon.

I have sorted the LINK issue with the Asus RT66U. I simply changed the operations mode from "Wireless router mode (defult) Media bridge" to "Access Point (AP) mode".

Awesome - thanks for reporting back. The problem with using TWO routers is if the 2nd one also has DHCP enabled, it will not allow up-stream traffic, only down-stream.

Are you doing it in rapid-fire succession to get it to freeze? Or is that just to get it to happen quicker?

Yes that's just to make it happen quicker, it does occasionally happen randomly when selecting a track a few mins from the previous one.

@pnut > I'll help you with your issue in the other thread so as not to confuse this thread with @David's. Thanks!

@David > Thanks, I'll see if the engineers are able to replicate it based on the info you've provided.

@David > What is the file-system format of the USB device which was used when the issue occurred? (Eg. FAT32, HFS+)

And how did you format it? Using the operating system or a 3rd-party tool?

The engineers have also asked:

・Does this issue occur on the latest firmware (1.40)?

・Does this issue occur when replacing the problematic USB device with other ones?

・What is the make and serial number of the USB device you use?

Just upgraded to FW 1.5 and still have this issue. There is just a switch between my Mac and the XDJ-RX.

With FW the behaviour is slightly different from 1.0. Now it initially loads the track but when play button pushed the "NOW LOADING..." appears and it never completes. So I think there still is some fixing to do?

@pulse Im having a similar issue. I have rekordbox installed with some tracks in in all analysed and i have my XDJ RX connected via Ethernet with WIFI off...and firewall off too. When i start up rekordbox and My XDJ RX and click link the rekordbox light flashes then goes solid but no tracks appear on my controller. I then drag a track from the laptop browser into the player on left for instance and it just says now loading and flashes constantly until i turn off the link. Any ideas ?

I really wanna get going with this mean piece of kit !

Thanks

@pulse

I'm having an issue that sounds very similar to the OP. However, most of my tracks have been analyzed and work 100% fine in link mode. I have 1 track that has been giving my trouble though. It works fine when I play it straight off of the USB stick, but if I try to load it in link mode I just get a constant "Now Loading ..." on the deck. I've verified my usage rights for the song, the file format is MP3, no firewall interference, and that it works on my USB stick.

Help me out, Pioneer! I NEED this track, and I'd like to be able to use the full function of my collection on my laptop.

Thanks,

Joshua

If you are having problems loading ONE track, then chances are the track itself is the problem.

If you are having problems loading ALL tracks via rekordbox link, the problem is the link -- and could be any number of things along the way between the controller and the computer. Start with this document and if nothing there answers your question, provide the information requested at the bottom of the article in a new post (don't reply to this one again) and we'll be happy to help you.
