XDJ RX Beat suddenly drops offbeat.

Did you analyze my track as wel? Because I don't understand the difference between the tracks. Rekordbox encrypted and I didn't use a different way to download the files.

@Hans > Your file was a recording, not the source audio files, which is basically of no use other than to "hear the problem." If you want to attach one of the problematic files to your post I can check it out.

I read that VBR Files also gave tracks more Headroom when it comes to a section where more data is needed like a part of a track where all instruments come to use At the same time.

@Christian > Not true - the compression of a VBR has more potential to overcompress a portion of audio than a constant bitrate compressor which has the gates "full open" through the entire process. It's not like more bandwidth becomes available to a portion of the song simply because there's a more complex waveform during that passage.

Hey pulse! When you say vbr an cbr. Does it matter if it's MP3 or acc? I use acc and going to reconvert to cbr cuz I use to notice weird behavior on the unit I had before. Right now all my tracks are in acc vbr. But going to change that. One more thing. Going to side track a bit. I always wanted to know what is your Dj set if u do mobile and clubs. :)

@Steven > Shouldn't matter -- CBR is, in my opinion, a more stable and reliable format than VBR. Other users may say otherwise and point to articles written by an industry professional saying VBR is better, but I'd like to consider myself somewhat of an industry professional as well given my number of years of experience in the field, and my experience says that VBRs have been more problematic than CBRs.

When I'm mobile, I use an SX, when I'm in clubs, it's usually a CDJ-2000nexus (or CDJ-2000) and a DJM900nexus (or SRT). I love the SZ but it's just too big for mobile for me, and I'm hoping to upgrade to an SX2 soon.

Thank for your info on cbr an vbr! I do value your opinion on this. I did converted my tracks to acc-cbr. I did find a lot of weird behaviors when I had it on acc-vbr. Always thought it was rekordbox or the unit acting up. I am planing to get the xdj rx in a month or so. And thanks for sharing your personal gear u use to Dj. :)

Hans, try to reconvert your track to mp3. I use LameXP which is a free convert program and works perfectly on my XDJ.

It is for pc only, but if u use mac u still can find free audio converters. for example i used to use "switch audio file converter software"

@Hans > The engineers would like a bit more information about what happens around the time the skip occurs. If you are able to catch it on video that would be very helpful, but if not, could you tell us what you are doing at the time that might trigger a skip. Thanks!

Regarding the skip happening in rekordbox, was it always in the same place with the same audio file or did it only happen once and then never again on that track?

both tracks played fine on my xdj rx. ( firmware: 1.00)

Not sure if this is the same issue as I am new to Rekordbox and Pioneer. I just received the XDJ-RX a couple of weeks ago and have tested out some sets that I know inside and out and have mixed perfectly on my Denon controller via Virtual DJ or Traktor many times. When all of my songs are beat-matched (except for a few songs that are slightly off) they lock in perfectly and stay that way throughout the tracks.  I like to do long mixes so this is important.  For some reason on the XDJ-RX, with these same mixes, it always slips out of place and gets unbeat-matched after about 5 or 10 seconds and I have to constantly nudge it into place. Is there anything I can do to remedy this and is it perhaps related to the above problems mentioned? I have the tracks analyzed "Normal" and not "Dynamic".  Thank you, Olivia

I'm using the BPM display and my ears to qualify two tracks being beatmatched.

This just happened to me today. Track is purchased from Beatport, was not even touching the device, then boom, track went out of sync with the other track. I manually beatmatched/sync'd them. I'm running into more and more bugs... starting to really get frustrated. I really can't stand this new mentality that exists with companies today :(

@chris > That's not the case. The engineers spend quite a bit of time testing the products pre-release. The problem is they're testing it under a couple-hundred scenarios in the labs and even have some units sent out for real-world testing. But once the product is in the wild, it's used with combinations of hardware, software, and audio files they didn't and simply couldn't test. The variables are mind boggling and impossible for the engineers to have every possible issue addressed at first-release. Thankfully for you, they're constantly resolving those issues and releasing updates as quickly as they can.

I can't claim to know why the track went out of sync, again, there are lots of possible reasons why that happened, but if it happens again, try and get it on video. The best thing we can do is provide the engineers with the most information possible. Other useful info:

• Was anything else connected to the RX?
  
• What is the source device of the tracks? What is the file-system?
  
• What are the tracks themselves (what is the filetype, compression used, artwork embedded)
  
• Were you using sync?
  
• Was master tempo enabled?
  
• Did you have any effects running?

Every little bit of detail you can give for any issue helps to get it solved faster.

I'm having the same problem I'm going to try a better usb stick and if it carries on I'm sending it back
its like rekordbox 3 has a mind of its own
when i first got it i loved it but then everytime i put computer on its updating 3.3.0 iv managed to do it now but i just wanted to play and mix my music !!!

now they won't load at all just give a E3806 code or something like that
any ideas please

pretty sad that this prob been around for just about a year and yet still lurk around, the XDJ-RX is my first ever product from Pioneer, and guaranteed my last.

I have this $2,0000AU + dollar controller, just looking pretty on my table, mixing 4/4/4 music with is is just about impossible, the constant adjustments, the relentless going off beat, makes it just about impossible to rely on the equipment, very stressful, there's no fun.

I'M bringing mine back to the store this week.

@Elbowz > Sorry to hear that, are you sure you've gridded your music properly? Most users who experience problems keeping tracks in sync haven't matched their beat grids to the audio properly.

@Pulse > Indeed the grid on my tracks are the very first action i take after i purchase them, regarding the grid i am 110% sure they are set correctly.

Before i made my comment about the controller I have also tested on Traktor & Rekordbox the grid's to have something to back my claim(s).

But the length of issues regarding this controller here in the forum will def be a great tool to prove a point at the store and get my refund back.
