[SOLVED] XDJ RX Traktor Questions

Good afternoon,

I've reviewed all the documentation on the traktor TSI file for the XDJ RX and see that it can run in external mixing mode and internal mode. I see the hardware diagram shows midi mapped effects. If  you run Traktor in EXTERNAL mode can you use the on board XDJ RX effects?

Also has anyone used this device with Traktor yet? looking for real world experience as no one has it in stock yet and i cant find any information online.

thanks

If run in external, you should have no problem with the onboard effects as the audio channel returns would come in pre-effect.

thanks pulse! i just need to find one to try it out.

my only other concern before purchasing is how easily i can flip back and forth between rekordbox and midi mode if needed. Like if im playing off thumbdrive for cocktail/dinner and i want to flip to Traktor to play a set or vice versa will there be any issues? or if im djing with Traktor and laptop craps can i flip to thumb drive to keep on going seemlessly?

I just tested my XDJ-RX with Traktor.

You can switch from traktor to your thumbdrive at any time. You just select your source on the RX, by pressing MIDI (for traktor) or USB1 or USB2 buttons.

If you press MIDI, the browse button will allow you to browse inside Traktor. Press Load.Done. If you want to use USB1 for other deck, just press USB1, browse on the thumbdrive.Press Load. Done. Very easy.

As @Pulse said, you can use all the onboard effects.

The only problem I see is that the RX has no midi out and no HID. So when you use it with Traktor, you don't see the track name on the RX's screen and off course no waveform, no remaining time.

The led display on the jogwheel doesn't 'turn' and all the leds on the pads are lit.  You can use the pads for hotcue, loops, but you can't rely on the pad's state on the RX to know if there is a hotcue (or not) or if a loop is active (or not). You must look at your laptop's screen.

So, the RX works with Traktor, but it's not optimal, especially for the pads imho.

the major issue i found - just try to set this up last night, was that the tempo fader moves .12 at a time rendering manual tempo setting impossible. looking for a way to solve this..
