[SOLVED] Drinks spillage on XDJ RX: Advice Required

Hi

Friday night I experienced one of the worst DJ nightmares, where someone knocked a pretty much full pint of lager over my XDJ-RX. Aaaargh!

Interestingly the unit continued to work and it was very near the end of the night plus we had another controller rigged up anyway. The spillage was mainly to the right hand deck, over the pitch control slider, the jogwheel platter, the beat sync buttons and 4 cue/loop buttons. When I packed it away and tipped it up, there was liquid dripping out of the bottom right corner. I left it overnight and tried the unit yesterday. It switched on and does seem to play OK. But A few weird things were happening:

  1. It struggled to recognise my laptop via the ethernet link. This has never been a problem before. I had to restart the laptop and this unit a couple of times before it recognised it. USB sticks not a problem.

  2. There was a duller red light constantly on, on the slip button, even when not activated. It becomes brighter when activated.

  3. The tempo selector button was stuck on WIDE and I could not change it at all.

I left the unit overnight again and have just tried it again:

It recognised my laptop straight away, the light on the slip button is fine now and I can adjust the tempo selector.

After some advice really, given that I'm playing out again in two weeks. Should I get the unit looked at properly? Who would do that - Pioneer?

Or do you think I may have got away with it. My concern is it seems fine now, but over time the alcohol/sugar inside the unit could be corrosive and it could go downhill quickly. The unit is a little sticky on the right hand side too, so also wondered what to clean it with.

Any advice gratefully received....

Nightmare I know.

PS - I'm using 1.50 firmware version.

cheers
