why won't my DDJ SR work with my windows laptop but, it will work with my apple desktop?

So I have a DDJ SR running on SERATO DJ. When I bought the SR I installed it in my Apple mini desktop and it worked wonders.  The I got a laptop, an apple laptop. The desktop is running Mavericks and the laptop is running Mountain Lion. Both worked great. Now i bought this ASUS laptop which i figured was going to work since it is new and is running the specs it asks for. its running windows 8 which i hate but nonetheless it is not working with the laptops anymore. I downloaded the software and it wont work. what should i do. I am logged on there with my account and everything. When I turn the controller on, the LED's turn on like before. but in the computer it registers that it is plugged in but it doesn't show anything.
