@Brandon > Are the tracks you rated all ones that were imported to rekordbox via iTunes sync?
Hello,
I recently switched to Rekordbox 4.0.5 after a full decade of heavy Traktor use.
Yesterday I spent over an hour going through 100 songs or so and updating the "rating" column in the browser that's at the bottom. I was browsing the primary "Collection" entry, loading & playing a track and then maybe update the star rating.
I closed out of Rekordbox and then opened it back up and found that none of my changes to "Ratings" were saved. 100 tracks had reverted their ratings to exactly as they were before I started.
I have re-tested this issue several times and my problem persists: Rekordbox will not save changes to the "Rating" attribute on most* of my tracks.
Most* It seems to be limited to .MP3 files only. My personal .AIF tracks are updating the "Rating" column correctly & persisting across restarts.
I am using Rekordbox 4.0.5 on Mac (Yosemite)
I am also using iTunes integration as well as the external "Rekordbox XML" integration.
Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. If I could get this fixed before my XDJ 700's arrive on Friday that would be awesome!!
Thanks,
Brandon

When I initially setup Rekordbox, I imported a bunch of songs manually by adding to the collection.
Later on I setup several iTunes Smart Playlists to try and better organize my library and that caused another 1,000 songs or so to come over into Rekordbox.
So my question is - how do I tell the difference between tracks I manually added to RB Collection, versus the ones that arrived to my RB Collection via iTunes Sync?
UPDATE: I completely deleted my Rekordbox Library and all settings.
I reconfigured Rekordbox 4.0.5 to use iTunes sync, so 100% of my collection comes from iTunes.
I still cannot change ratings on my songs!
To reproduce:
1) Open Rekordbox
2) Change song rating
3) Close & Reopen
Problem: Song rating has reverted to old status. This also seems true for "Comment" attributes as well.
Why can't I change any attributes of my iTunes-imported songs? Is that "by design" or is something wrong??
RESOLVED: I went to examine my last line of questioning and figured out a very important fact: When you use Sync Manager to auto-import music from iTunes, all of the songs attributes come over in a read-only state. In other words, you can't use Rekordbox to change Rating or Comments for Sync Manager + iTunes songs. The work around is to disable Sync Manager for iTunes. A small workaround: use Rekordbox, browse to the iTunes tree (Pro-tip: Right Click -> Show All Playlists) and then drag-and-drop all of your new iTunes tracks to Collection. This will import your new tracks to Rekordbox but create them as standalone entries so you can modify track rating and other attributes.
