never come across this before - have you had this happen on other units other than the ones you mention at the club?
if so it could be your USB sticks maybe? what brand are they?
I haven't really ever tried the players with cds or anything other than USB's but while searching for tracks using the knob on the display screen the CD player will freeze up for aout10 seconds and then restart itself. It happens randomly and I don't have to have a song selected for it to happen. It has happened to me while I was at a club too the what I think was a CDJ2000.
On some of the freezes, the screen will become peppered with pixels and then restart and other times it just plain old freezes. It hasn't happened while any track is playing yet, but it's frustrating when I'm trying to find a song quickly and it delays me.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Andy.

@Andy > Sorry to hear of your issues - I don't believe I've come across this issue before.
As Phil points out, it may seem the common denominator might be your USB stick... What brand do you use? Do you use rekordbox?
It might be. It happens with my own personal set of decks (ON both) and it has happened on what I believe was a normal 2000 at a club. I have Emtec USB sticks. They are 3.0 but I don't think that would be the problem. Might just be the USBs. I do not use Rekordbox.
I did initially buy expensive TDK usb's but they failed to read them as they were not FAT32 nor could I format them to be. :(
@Andrew > What were you using to try to format them?
At first I tried via formatting the USBs and selecting different options through the normal means via My Computer, but FAT32 wasn't an option with these sticks in particular. Then I tried following another guide where you changed the format through CMD.exe and that took a looong time to do and failed in the last 10%. Is there another way I'm missing?
@Andrew > Yes, you can try a Windows tool called HP Formatting Utility. Download it here:
Hey Gavin! Thanks for that. It seems to have formatted successfully! Hopefully I won't have the same problem. Thanks for your help. :)
@Andrew > great stuff, glad you got it working - thanks for letting me know!
