XDJ RX Pre-Listen option on Browser

Hi guys, wouldnt be fine to havea pre-listen option?
I mean i dont want to load the track to listen to it and play it or not, i want to be able to listen before loading it.
Are there any plans for something like this?
I can pre-listen when i use my laptop but the reason i bought the XDJ RX is to leave my laptop at home :)

Having been used to CDJs, I don't see an easy way to do this on an RX. For a CDJ, you have to bite the bullet and load up the track.

This would be handy, but I'm curious how you would go about adding it to the cue mix... would it duck the existing headphone feed and feed the current selection? How do you handle track gain? Where would you start playing the sample? (I wouldn't want it to start from the beginning, maybe pick some configurable cue point, etc.)
Big thing I see is that poor USB2.0 interface having to slurp out gobs of data to render the samples as I'm scrolling and scrolling...

Exactly. ^^

There is no good hardware option for preview cueing on the RX so I don't think it's something that will be integrated over the link.

hi I too would like this function of prewiew of  track, without load necessary  in a deck. I had this feature with S4 controller and Traktor .

I feel need of this function becouse often have different versions of the same song, or  new songs that  not even remember well.

Unfortunately, if load track into a deck, xdjrx marks  it as already played that also if for a few seconds that have heard. If not possible to add this function of preview, not is possible to add a feature that  unmark a song played as unplayed?. It would be possible? Sorry for my bad english

Johnny, this is a wonderful explanation as to why this would be a great feature.  Not only is the amount of time and button pushes needed to sample a track excessive, but it basically marks it as 'played' means I'll likely skip it again later on.

Maybe the RX and current Nexus decks can't do this, but this would be really nice at some point.

Amen!

i found a solution when using a laptop as music source.

I have made a cable that runs from the laptop jack conection headphone to my RX headphone jack (2x male) and from that same cable a short female entrance where i can plug my heafphones.

i can listen to the track on Rekordbox first pressing on the small wave form on the left of the track and then load it.

Recently i found that both headphones conectors are somehow linked on the RX, now you only need 2 male jack cable to conect the laptop to the RX and plug your headphone on the other conector (big jack).

And this will work, it does for me, i dont always play with a laptop sins that the whole idea od having a RX but when i do this is how i pre-listen

saludos,

Lalo

An alternative is if you're using rekordbox in PERFORMANCE mode, the preview works over the headphone output without having to configure anything fancy! Just tell it you want it enabled and the preview audio is sent to the headphones.

Well thats a very expensive alternative :).

Sins you already have Rekordbox 3 already open acting as a source you can use that to pre-listen.

Using RB in performance mode will mean that you have to buy Rekordbox Dj :D

I bought the RX so I didn't need to bring a laptop to the more 'challenging' gigs, which usually mean outdoor/dusty/sketchy.  Otherwise, I'm using a house setup which is nearly always 2knxs and no laptop I'd wanna use there... So, performance mode is out.  But this feature would be totally useful on either platform.

Thanks Pope

Me too bought xdjrx for these reason. Work without pc.

Lalo can you please post or send me an image of your cable and connection?

It certainly is a creative solution, and would do the trick for most users who are taking their computer to use as the music source, not using performance mode.

To sum it up, for those who pulled a "TL;DR" - it's a cable to combine the audio signals from the headphone outputs from the laptop (providing the preview output in rekordbox) and the headphone output from the XDJ-RX (providing the standard headphone cueing capabilities).

@Pulse - how do you preview tracks in performance mode?

@Shaun > In performance mode, just click on the waveform in the collection list and it will output the audio to the headphones, volume control is through the preferences. Nothing else required in terms of configuration.
