I own a DDJ-RZ and I tried to make Vinyl Control Tone work.
I had a look at the FAQ yesterday. Recently, this FAQ was a copy of the DDJ-SZ one. It had some mistakes talking about the SZ instead of RZ...
It's not really a problem. The problem is that now we can read this:
"What are the differences between DDJ-SZ and DDJ-RZ?
--> The supported software differs. This unit has the layout optimized for rekordbox."
That's false! according to the same FAQ! See below:
"I use the TRAKTOR SCRATCH series. Is it possible to perform scratch play using Control CD or Control VINYL?
--> It is not possible to perform scratch play using Control CD or Control VINYL with the TRAKTOR SCRATCH series on this unit.
"I use the Serato DJ series. Is it possible to perform scratch play using Control CD or Control VINYL?
--> It is not possible to perform scratch play using Control CD or Control VINYL with the Serato DJ series on this unit."
"Even if the USB Output Level value is changed in the settings utility, the setting value is not reflected.
--> When Time code (Control Tone LINE/PHONO/CD) is selected for Mixer Audio Output, Control Tone is output only when rekordbox connection."
This means that the DDJ-RZ is not "tailed" or "dedicated" to RekordboxDJ but Locked to it!
When I bought it, this was not writed anywhere.
Today there is nothing about this in the manual, just this FAQ recently updated.
This is a shame! I don't want this controler anymore. Pioneer should consider winning user by the quality of its software, not by locking hardware.
If I'm wrong, please, tell me how to use this hardware with Control Tone and other software, I am interested in this.
Otherwise, is people are interested in a DDJ-RZ...
Philippe.
