Importing what XML file? From where?

Are you accessing that file in another application where the tags might be modified?

Tags are updated in beatport pro,  i select 'write mood to comments field'  when i export as an itunes xml.

They show up written in the comments in the 'all tracks' in the itunes drop down. After importing to collection and reloading the tag to fix other fields the comments field over rides all the mood comments.

Regarding the playlist issue, playlist are created in beatport pro and again exported as the itunes xml, show up in rekordbox with the same file duplicated over and over

Sorry, are you simply exporting as an iTunes XML playlist from Beatport Pro and then importing that directly to rekordbox? Or do you step through iTunes first?

Check under preferences to see if you have Advanced > Browse > My Tag > "Add My Tag to the Comments" selected.

no stepping through iTunes (should I?)

just export as iTunes xml in beatport and then locate that file and import that into rekordbox.

and the 'add my tag to comments' is not selected.

You don't need to, I'm just wondering why you export a playlist then, is there a reason for that instead of simply importing the tracks directly into rekordbox?

Not having that box checked should keep rekordbox from overwriting that field.

What is the filetype of the tracks you're exporting from Beatport Pro?

As some tracks have multiple genres listed in my collection eg "house, tech house" the rekordbox smart filter doesn't filter by just "house"... it will only find the tracks tagged with the single genre eg "house" or it will include all tracks with house listed in the genre eg "deep house" "bass house"

and i am exporting from beatport as an xml file, as i have smart playlist set up in beatport pro which i want to transfer over to rekordbox to use on the xdjrx

also i want the mood written to the comments so i can filter by a mood tag and the only way to get that is to 'write the mood to comments' on export of the xml file in beatport pro, and then its over-written after reloading the tag in rekordbox.

so those are my reasons for exporting it as a xml file rather than just importing the tracks straight into rekordbox. it possibly is a beatport pro issue with the playlists not exporting properly but they have yet to respond.

tracks are all mp3s
