Question about loading songs.

I had the same issue with Serato and the DDJ-SX and now with Rekordbox DJ and the DDJ-RX. Sometimes when I push "load" the song will load and immediately start playing. If seems if I push "cue" first, then "load" it doesn't do it. But, should I have to do that every time? Is there a setting to prevent the track from playing on load?

Here's how it works...

If you have LOAD LOCK enabled, it prevents the user from loading a new song to an active deck. This means the playback is moving.

When you play a track and it hits the "end" of the song, and you don't have the AUTO PLAY enabled (meaning the next track would automatically begin playback), the deck stops ... and allows you to load a new song, but the state of the deck is still PLAY, even though it is stopped at the end of the audio file.

My suggestion -- if a song is over, even if you've let it run to the end, BEFORE you load a new song, pull down the fader for that channel. It's not playing any more, why leave it up? THEN load the song, so if it starts playing, your audience won't hear it.

We have already reported this back to the engineers, but it's not really a bug so much as an unintended method of operation.

@Mike > Are you loading a track onto a deck that is already playing?

Well, it would have been playing, then song ends and I hit the next deck, then when I go to load a song into the previous deck, it starts playing upon "load". Maybe I'm not waiting for it to reach the end? Or should I have to hit "cue" to take it out of "play mode"?

I've been looking into this exact issue as it is driving me mad.

From what I understand the programming of controllers mean that whatever the deck was doing before the a track was loaded will be applied to the new track - So if deck is playing and new track loaded the new track will start playing. If deck was paused/cue'd the new track will be.

I cannot find anyway to make it so that new tracks loaded automatically pause regardless of what the deck was doing before.

PIONEER - I beg you add this feature. I have just bought a DDJ-RX and this is a deal breaker. Please let me know if this feature will be added. If not I will return it now whilst I still have the option with the dealer.

NOTE - when a track is playing and goes all the way to the end effectively the deck is still playing (the track has just ended) so a newly loaded track will start playing. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING. It completely messes my workflow. To have to be conscious of this is far from intuitive.

So, it's not just me... yeah, I agree with the post above. I would like an option where when you load a new track, it is paused instead of playing automatically. That would be amazing and make things so much easier.

Same here! I have switched off automatic start but when a track has run out completely and you load a new track, it will start playing! Very frustrating indeed!

Please fix!

Pulse - that comment reads as if you are rather unsympathetic to what is definitely a frustrating issue. It may not be a bug but is a user experience annoyance.

I appreciate the workaround you have offered but I still feel strongly about this. The functionality and this workaround are unintuitive. You shouldn't expect people to have to implement workarounds as part of EVERY mix.

All we're asking for is an option for ALL newly loaded tracks to pause. This is available on CDJs (through turning on A.CUE) and should be a very simple addition to the software.

Is there any hope is will be added/amended in the future?

@Rob > I understand what the problem is and as I stated, the engineers are already working on it. Thanks for your patience.
