Short of trying a firmware update I would have guessed it was a hardware problem.
Sorry to hear of your troubles and hope the next one works as expected!
I just purchased a new XDJ-RX yesterday, i am not new to DJ'ing and currently can't figure out if this unit is defective or not. I've tried everything!
What happens is that channel 2 will play the track through the master output even when i have the volume fader all the way down. I have set my crossfader to "THRU" because I don't mix with the crossfader, only use the vertical volume faders. Channel 1 is working just fine, when the volume fader is down - no music is played. But no matter what, channel 2 as soon as i hit cue or play, it goes right to the master output - so at this point i can't even use this machine because everytime i go to cue a track, everyone else will be able to hear it.
Now if i set the cross fader on any setting except "THRU" I can move the crossfader all the way to the left side to channel 1, and thats the only way i can get Channel 2 to NOT play the track. So it seems that at this point the only way to use the mixer is to use the crossfaders, but that doesn't make any sense to me. It seems like this machine is defective right out of the box.
PLEASE HELP

@Marek > Could you shoot a short video and post it to YouTube, marked as unlisted and share the link here please?
I returned the unit to the music store I bought it from. They deemed it as defective. Sad because this unit just came out of the box and already it failed. They have ordered me a new unit from Pioneer and expect it to arrive in 3-4 weeks..
I have exhausted all my options, including a firmware update (even though it was already at 1.6) it was a hardware issue. Oh well, better luck next time
Yeah, sounds like a fluke. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Fluke? I think not, I just posted a question about the same exact thing! Marek explained it better however I doubt this is an isolated incident. I ordered my unit online so I am guessing it's going to be a pain for me as I can not just run down to the store and return it...
That's unfortunate to hear. I purchased my XDJ-RX at the local music store (Long n Mcquade) and they had ordered me another unit 3-4 weeks away. I was lucky enough to find another music store (Tom Lee) which had multiple units in stock, so I was able to get a new unit the next day. This one works as it should! I would really like to find out what the actual issue is behind what was going on. I've never had issues with pioneer before and ive own all models of CDJ's and mixers.
@John > You are the first two to report such an issue, and I hope it is limited to only two units with this problem as I know how much it sucks to get a new piece of hardware home only to find that something isn't working properly. A simple manufacturing error or defect that passed QC is likely what happened and thankfully we have retailers who will exchange your product in such cases.
@Marek > The cause of the issue will never be known to the public, and only if that particular unit was marked for inspection upon return will it be identified to the engineers.
