XDJ-R1 and Remotebox - searching full collection

Hi

I've just bought an XDJ-R1 and I'm having a few problems getting to grips with it. The most pressing issue at the moment is that I can't seem to search my whole music library in Remotebox.

Here's the situation: I have 30,000 tracks in total, but I've created three playlists containing my most-used tracks (about 100 in each list) for different gig types. However, when I'm working and taking requests, the chances are that requested songs may not be in one of my playlists.

When searching on Remotebox by track title, artist, etc, the search only yields results from tracks contained within the playlists. I'd like to be able to search my entire library.

I feel like I may be missing something here. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Yep, on a USB memory stick plugged into the R1.

I can see them if I select the 'Folder' category on the left of the screen in Remotebox, I just can't search them using the pull down search bar.

Update on this:

I tried deleting my collection from Rekordbox and reanalysing it from the USB stick that my music is stored on (rather than the original external HDD where it was originally stored). I also moved the master database on to the USB stick.

Still unable to search the entire collection - only the contents of playlists that I've created.

Can anyone help with this?

@BriChi - Yeah I've been following that process - hitting USB BROWSE and doing a pull-down search. This only wants to search through my playlists, not the whole music collection. I really hope there isn't a track limit on the R1. I may have to consider returning it to the vendor if this issue can't be resolved - as things are right now,  it renders the R1 unfit for purpose.

Fair enough, it's going back - it's utterly useless to me.

Oh, and a few other things for anyone who happens across this thread wondering if they should buy an R1:

  • The time it takes to analyse your library is pathetic. I've used a Numark D2 Director for the last 8 years and it takes the D2 12 hours to create a full library - with BPM profiles and waveforms that could be displayed on its screen. Plus you could search the entire library out of the box, no questions asked.
  • When using Master Tempo (aka key lock) when changing pitch, the R1 does a terrible job. The track sounds choppy and butchered. Apparently Pioneer are aware, but can't do anything to resolve it, so apologies and tough luck. Again, my geriatric Numark does this flawlessly.

I genuinely can't remember the last time I was so disappointed in a product. I was really excited to get this and it's been a massive let down from start to finish. Poor show, Pioneer. Time to pre-order the Denon MCX8000, I think.
