CD Playback..

It may seem like a silly question but I was wondering with CDs, there's usually 700mb storage or 80 minutes burning space.. Is it possible to just store 700mb worth of audio files for playback or do they HAVE to be hard burned?

@Marc > As @Dave says, you can certainly store MP3s, WAVs, etc. on a CD-R and use it to playback, but if you have a CDJ with a USB drive, you will get better features, performance and functionality when exporting songs to the USB device via rekordbox.

Data on a CD-R can't be processed via rekordbox so it will have no cue points, waveforms, etc, plus can't be searched or browsed easily.

Any CDJ since the CDJ-200 can support data playback from a CD-R, but the top-level players will even play from DVD-Rs.

You can indeed just use 700mb of audio files. If you are using .mp3 or .aac files, these will total up to way more than 80 minutes.

I'm not sure about which models, but this will not work on older players. For sure though, any player that is Rekordbox compatible will work like this.
