FolgenMajor Recording Issues XDJ-RX
Hey everyone. I've been having some serious recording issues with my XDJ-RX. I first started noticing the issue when recording long live sets (last live set was 3 hrs and had 10+ errors in the recording) but today seems to be anytime I'm recording. The issue doesn't affect the live output (thank god!) but is a nightmare during post production of any sets I record.
Basically what happens is when playing back a recording I notice that the track jumps ahead and then jumps back again, causing a future part of the song to be heard then back to where it should be. I noticed today that it may coincide with the waveform lagging as well. Is anyone else having this type of issue? Thanks for your help.

Hey Matt! Thanks for the reply. Hope you're enjoying your XDJ. Other than the recording issue I think it's awesome. My firmware is up to date so that's not it.
Hey yeah I love it!coming from the cdj850s it's such a leap forward. How long have you had this problem was it recently or since you updated the firmware?
I first noticed the issue back in Nov. I upgraded the firmware and recorded a few 1 hour sets and all seemed good. NYE I recorded a 3 hour set and it happened 10+ times in the recording.
Hey Dan.Sorry for the late reply but the only two things I can think of are maybe the it could be the usb stick you're using or it's a glitch in the firmware which causes this to happen over a certain amount of time ie after 1hour or so.I hope you get to the bottom of this soon though.
Hey Matt. No worries! I hope I get to the bottom of it too and hope Pioneer can offer some assistance. I've been searching around online and I can't find anyone else having this issue. I love the system other than this issue but extensive editing because of a glitch with recoding is maddening!
@Dan > I would agree with @matt's assessment that it's possibly the USB drive you're recording to. Is it the same drive as the source of your music or are you recording to a second drive? What is the make / model of that device and how was it formatted?
I am using USB 1 as the music source and USB 2 as the recording source. The USB is a SanDisk Cruzer Glide 128 GB 2.0 Flash Drive model number SDCZ60-128G-A11. The drive is formatted to FAT 32
What's funny is I could have said "Is it a SanDisk?" and I would have a 50% chance of being right, as that seems to be one of the most common brand drives users say they have when reporting a problem with USB devices.
Do you have another brand drive you can try recording to?
I do have another drive and I will give it a try this week. Does it matter if I am using the San disk for the source drive? Wish I would've known about the issues with the San disks before I got them.
It shouldn't matter if it's used as the source drive; the biggest problem with those drives is the write-speed. You say there's no problems with the master output, so that would lead me to believe it's only the recording drive.
Same problem here. No SanDisk USB. Recording to USB2 while playing from USB1. Was working fine for the first few mixes I recorded. But it seems to get worse over time. Have not been able to record a decent mix in months. That's why I'm back to Traktor for my mix tapes.
@Stefan > What make / model USB drive are you using to record?
I'm using two identical Philips USB sticks, they also carry the same music and playlists. (One as back up). They are about 80% full. My guess is that the fuller your stick th more problematic it gets because in the beginning (when they were less full) there was no issue. Perhaps I should just keep one stick for recording (and clean it after every recording) and the others for storing my music. I'm now looking for the USB stick with the highest actual (not theoretical) write speed. What is you recommendation?
It could certainly be it's looking for a minimum available space before it starts, but I would expect it says "Hey, any space, I'm using it!" without checking first.
The two drives I absolutely recommend are a SanDisk Extreme Pro and a Corsair GTX (the latter is a bit pricier, but more solid than anything I've ever used).
@Stefan,
I am having the same problem and dropped $$ on multiple different thumb drives to try and fix it. I commonly do 3 hour sets and this is not working well.
Did having a dedicated (empty) stick work for you? Can you post here any solution you found?
Thanks,
