[Solved] Problem running DDJ-RX firmware update in Windows 10

My personal steps...

Step 1:  Buy a Mac

Step 2:  Enjoy things actually working the way they're supposed to!

All kidding aside, glad you got it sorted Ashley.  Windows machines can be tricky sometimes.

Unfortunately doesnt work for me. I have done all the steps but nothing happen when I Double click the .bat file and it will run the .jar file.  Anything else I can do pls, I am very unhappy about this Sofware and I spent 1000 for the DDJ RX. Pls need ur assistance. I have Windows 10 ,64b

Please do not spread Apple BS and propaganda like that.  You have no right to tell people what to use like that. Not everyone can invest into those overpriced POS, unfixable, unupgradable disposable macbooks that apple is selling now (basically since the retina models it's all been downhill and it just keeps going more and more down).  Not to mention if you've been paying attention to all the issues that apple users have been having ever since El Crapitain came out it completely voids your lame comment about buying a mac.

@Diego Tiozzo did you run the file as an administrator? I think you need to right click and choose that option to run the file. It's been a while since I posted that so might be mistaken.

@Mushin Thanks for your support, I was really mad when Mark wrote that, I didn't find it funny at all. Not sure if he works for Pioneer but if he does I thought it was really bad customer service. If it says it's compatible with Mac and Windows then you shouldn't criticised by Pioneer afterwards for having a Windows machine. I've had both in the past and found the both have problems from time to time.

No Worries, My pleasure.  I like you have been a user of both and you are totally right they each have there issues.  All Apple users these days are doing is exchanging one set of issues for another.  At least on the windows side you aren't paying twice the price for half the machine.

If you have Java RE installed, you should be able to run JAR files without needing to create a batch file to do so. Some Windows systems may restrict the execution of those files to administrator-only accounts, or may require elevated administrator-level privilege to run, but as noted, that's as easy as right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator."

@Mushin > Mark is an Apple fan, and you'll find most of us here are - simply because there are fewer issues or nuisances with getting things to run properly, not just Pioneer DJ hardware / software. And as for your El Cap statement, I will point out that alternating Windows releases - Windows ME, Windows Vista and Windows 8.0 - all as having been utter failures with glaring problems, while Apple really has only had one black sheep. But this discussion isn't about "which OS is better," it's about the firmware update.

It was a joke, folks.  Hence, the "All kidding aside" portion of the comment.  My apologies if you found it in poor taste.  Please allow me to explain...

@Ashley > Your original post pointed the blame at Pioneer DJ and the DDJ-RX when you said you were not impressed with the product because you couldn't upgrade the firmware.  In fact the problem was with Windows 10 and not the DDJ-RX.  This is what prompted my joke.  Not to mention, the joke was made after the problem had already been solved.  Again, I apologize.

@Mushin > You can call it BS if you want to but I can tell you from personal experience with every Pioneer DJ product released in the last 8 years that I have never once had any computer related issues on either of my MBP's running any OS.  Again, it was only a joke.   I'm sorry if I offended you.  We welcome and support Windows and Apple users equally.

@Pulse > I do agree that the operating system you mentioned are terrible. But you also failed to point out How XP (SP3), Windows 7 and Windows 10 (aside from Win10 being overly restrictive with java, but java is gaping security hole anyways) is pretty solid.  If your going to tell a story tell the whole story not just the part that proves a point your trying to make.  I also agree that Apple for the most part has been very solid over the many years. Core Audio and The Audio Aggregator are phenomenal, they are far superior to what windows offers.  Also you don't get have the stupid USB polling issue with audio rates of 96k and higher. So yes in many ways Apple wins.  I'm the first person to give credit when credit is due.  But in many ways Apple looses from there creating disposable, un-fixable and un-upgradeable machines with older hardware, among other things. I'm an IT Support Technician with almost 25 Years of experience servicing both windows and mac machines all the way back to the Apple II which was also my first computer, suffice it to say I may know a thing or two.  In any case I could keep enumerating and we could keep this PC vs Mac Argument going on forever but I'll end it here.

Even as a joke. And yes Marc your joke was in extreme poor taste and extremely offensive.  I restate You have no right to tell people what computer to buy.  The fact that you personally have had no issue does not reflect the rest of the user pool.  My primary clients are content creators and you should see the crap I've had to help them out with since the last 5 years or so on there Macs.  Many of them have said  "This is my last Mac" and some of them have been using Apple Products for 20-30 years! But I just digressed back to our PC vs Mac which I said I was ending.

In any case I will now step down from my soap box.  But be warned if I see a comment like that posted after this dated you'll be getting an ear full, or in this case an eye full ;)

But as you know, the wide variety of hardware combinations are what make PCs both desirable (for configuration options, potential upgradability, and competition for lower costs), but also near impossible for manufacturers to anticipate 100% compatibility between drivers, hardware, and other components.

I believe the only reason they used Java was the cross-platform support for JAR executables; write it once, use it wherever. But again, as you state, it's the security of the operating system causing the issue with the application not running properly, not the updater itself.

Hi Pulse or Mark. Since this thread is a lot more recent than the one about Mac, I thought maybe you guys could notice my message here.

I have a Mabook Pro retina 13, El Capitan 10.11.6 and I still didn't get my Ddj Rx to work in it. 

I mean, it worked when I updated the firmware for the first time (I formatted my mac because the ddj rx usb wasn't being detected, then it worked). 

But after turning the macbook and the controller off for a while, when I got back for more fun the controller wasn't detected again.

After long time trying things here and there, I opened the firmware updater (.jar file) and it said that the firmware should be updated. Couldn't understand since I had done it before and even had played with the controller a bit. 

Again, after installing all that again and played with the controller I took a break turning all off. When got back to, same thing happened, and now it is never detected by my mac. 

Do pioneer firmware developer team have a clue about why that happens? Do they have any suggestion about how to tackle that annoying problem? 

I know it's a Windows thread, but in the Mac thread people haven't gotten an answer for a long time already. Please I appreciate if you guys could help. 

Are you putting the controller into updated mode before running the .jar file?
