I'm running Rekordbox 4.0.5 on both a Macbook Air 1.6Ghz i5 8GB as on a Macbook Pro 2.3 i7 8GB. Also Traktor user on MBP. No problem at all.
i am a rekordbox and traktor user on the same macbook pro i7,i use the 2 software at the same time and i have no problem till i updated my rekordbox to the 4.0.5 version,my mac begin to freeze and tell me that i am out of memory,this version use too much memory,the older version are better,i am back to the version 3.0 and everything is normal,i use maverick but i want to update to el capitan and rekordbox 3.0 is not compatible,anyone had this issue or help to know if there is any problem on my macbook or is there a way to let rekordbox don't use so much memory when it is running? thank you

@DJ FADY > Can you please post a screen shot of the MEMORY and CPU tabs of the Activity Monitor while running? I have a MBP with i7 / 16GB RAM running Yosemite and I never have a problem with rekordbox taking up too much memory.
@Giona on one laptop yes, on the other no. But RB running fine on both.

Since i use RB in its basic version (rel. 4.0.5) to manage my library and export to my USB sticks only, would you consider safe updating to El Capitan ?Thanks

the problem happened when i use rekordbox and traktor running at the same time,i tried to use the older version 3.3.0 with traktor everything is ok without problems
Yeah, rekordbox 4 uses more system resources than rekordbox 3, that's normal. Even using 1GB of RAM shouldn't be an issue for your system, with 8GB available to it.
I would not recommend running Traktor and rekordbox simultaneously even on a brand new system tweaked to the hilt.
