DDJ-RZ & Rekordbox DJ

I am having same issues with songs drifting and many issues highlighted in the usability post, including sudden warbling in sound after an hour of use. We have used Traktor for many years and like how Rekordbox works however it not ready or reliable enough to trust live. When will the next update be released? Currently we own a Rekordbox specific controller that is pretty useless unless the rekordbox software is reliable.

@Dean > Are your songs analysed properly? Consistent (electronic) drum tracks should be in NORMAL mode but inconsistent (live drummer) tracks should be analysed in DYNAMIC mode.

Even once the analysis is complete, you should verify that the beat grid is accurate.

Hi Pulse

Yes they are, its just weird that if I sync the tracks the bpms match but the tune is out of time, so I beat match by ear in the usual way and they stay in time, but then notice the bpms match! So it's like the sync button only matches the bpms in the visual part of the software not the tune!

I have also transferred some of my cues and grids from traktor with rekord buddy and they seem OK, I will do more testing at let you know. I also started to run the software with djm900 nxs and cdj2000 nxs but there were random tempo changes without warning, so had to switch back to traktor an hour into the set.

sounds like I'm moaning,  I'm not, I think that the software (once bugs are ironed out) coupled with pioneer hardware is going to be awesome! just want the stability now so I can play live with it:)

I've got the same problem, songs drifting in tempo.

I play a song in deck 1 (lets say 128 bpm), mix in a second song from deck 2 (originally 130 BPM, so I bring it down to 128 with the tempo control).

I beatmatch the songs (no sync used) and the mix runs smooth.

But then, over time, the tracks seem to drift, and I need to constantly adjust the track with the jogwheels to get them in sync again. The BPM in Rekordbox shows both tracks are 128, but I've got a feeling that it isnt accurate enough.

If I have 2 tracks from the same BPM, this doenst happen, so I guess it's something with the Tempo Control and Rekordbox.

Quite annoying to be honest.

I agree Fernon.

i would like to see the annoyances fixed in the next update as we are caught in limbo between loving the software and not being able rely on it. I would like to start preparing my collection to make the switch from Traktor and use the hardware to its full potential but cannot risk playing out live with buggy software.

If Pioneer can get this sorted, they will convert many DJ's I think.

I've chimed in on a few other posts where people are highlighting this issue, and I'd like to add a +1 to this post as well.

Pulse - The DYNAMIC mode doesn't seem to do anything different. Try analyzing "Twist and Shout" by the Beatles. It's my go-to example because it starts speeding up right from the get-go. When I analyze it in either mode, the grid is completely out of wack and I need to do the entire song manually.

In terms of songs that have a consistent drum track, it looks on the screen like their analyzed perfectly (well, half the time they aren't, but it's easy enough to move the downbeat to the correct place) ...but then when I go to do a long mix between two songs, the beats start audibly drifting, even though on the screen it looks perfectly matched. It's not going out by a huge amount, but just enough to make it sound sloppy. This is with standard four on the floor house music from 2015.

I am a jazz and classically trained trumpet & piano player who teaches music and has been DJing for 15 years (started out with turntables, moved to Traktor 5 years ago). I have an extremely good sense of beat and rhythm, and I am very proficient at mixing, so it's not like I just don't know how to beat match well or something.

There is 100% an issue with the beat-gridding in this program (along with a few other issues that keep popping up in the forum).

I've downloaded a custom mapping for a DDJ-SX2 for traktor and used it with my DDJ-RX. Beatmacthing goes fine and no problems with drifting tracks. Definitly something wrong with rekordbox.

It has probably got something to do that the tempo on the decks is limited to 1 decimal. You can't check if a deck is 128.10 or 128.19 hence the drifting

@cpoynter > You'd want to manually lock in some of the beat grid with a song like Twist & Shout - its beat wanders all over the place! Where dynamic works best is when the drummer is fairly consistent, but not as accurate as an electronic percussion.

I still don't feel that the issue is beat matching based on the BPM in the display, but we do have the engineers investigating.

I'll try to make a video this weekend, to show the problem. Maybe it clears things up a bit. I'll post it here and let you guys know.

I played out with the rekordbox dj last night and had a few glitches which I hoping can fixed with setting adjustment? On the farthest ends of the cross fader I experienced  occasional stutters and audio drop outs. Has anyone else encountered this before and what solves it?
