XDJ-RX laptop connection

Trying to connect a win7 laptop with Rekordbox to the xdj-rx. I've tried both LAN & usb cable, but when I press the Rekordbox button on the xdj-rx, it's just blank. There is nothing indicative of the fact that the laptop is even communicating with the xdj as far as the screen is concerned on the xdj. If I use the usb cable, it will say that drivers are installed on the laptop every time I turn on the xdj.

I just want to mix, no playlist, no fx, or anything else. I just basically want to connect my laptop to the xdj-rx with all my tracks stored on the laptop, like I had with my serato set up. If that is only a possibility with the Rekordbox Dj where I have to pay, then somebody tell me.

If you want to use the rekordbox button and link the player to the software, you have to be in EXPORT mode and connected via ethernet only. You then press the LINK button at the bottom left and connect the RX. If it's not connecting, you may need to follow the instructions in the read-me guide first.

If you want to use the XDJ-RX as a controller for rekordbox in PERFORMANCE mode, you connect the RX via USB cable only, and press the MIDI button. Be sure to have the drivers installed before the RX is connected.

Also when connected via LAN switch off your firewall.

Ok, I turned off the firewall. The LAN cable did nothing. The usb cable (the one that plugs behind the screen to usb connection on laptop) connects when I press midi, as Rick informed. However, I have absolutely no control. I can play the track on the laptop & the sound comes thru the xdj-rx, but nothing can be controlled by the unit. All controls & functions can only be done on the laptop. I am connecting one laptop on which Rekordbox is installed on & my music library sits in. When I press the Rekordbox button on the xdj-rx, it's an empty screen. There are no tracks to select.

Pulse,

First off, I don't have a choice of EXPORT or PERFORMANCE mode. It just says TRIAL underneath the Track & Playlist drop down menu. I also have no option for any blue LINK button. Which goes back to my original question, am I only able to make this work if I pay for the service?

@A Kai > No; if you see TRIAL then you are already in EXPORT mode; the PERFORMANCE mode is what's available through the trial or license purchase. If you are not able to see the LINK button at the lower left, your RX is not being detected by rekordbox. Please see the article I linked and follow the troubleshooting steps outlined there to resolve the networking issues which are likely preventing communication.
