There is no control on the DDJ-RZ itself to provide this functionality, you would have to use your mouse or a keyboard shortcut to access a preview.
Is there a button (or combination thereof) on the DDJ-RZ that I can click to preview a selected song without loading the song into a deck?
Also... if this is possible, is there a way to quickly skip through the song while previewing it?
And lastly, if all of this is possible, can I do it even if I don't have the mini waveforms in my track browser? I removed that category because they take up too much valuable information space.

I suggested this a few months ago too. There are buttons under the browse wheel that can be used to 'preview through ehadphones. Then trning the browse button should skip through song (30 seconds at a time).
Traktor has this functionality and it is very useful. No matter how well you know your songs, sometimes you can't put your finger on the right remix so this will be a huge help!
Hey Pulse, any chance we could send this along as a feature request? Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to map the buttons like Harry mentioned?
@Pulse. You are correct there is no dedicated button, but using the shift-modifier would be a huge asset. This would free me from ever touching my laptop when using my DDJ-RZ. shift LOAD or Shift-Track select could start preview, while shift + turning the browse button could advance 30 seconds at a time.
@Harry > But many of those things are already assigned - for example, Shift+Load is already assigned to "Related Tracks." Pioneer can't just start remapping controls when the silkscreening says something different.
@Pulse > Could it maybe be included as an option in the preferences?
Like...
Shift + Load behaviour:
☐ show related tracks
☑ track preview
Again, the silk-screening says one thing -- if we start optioning every control, that wouldn't necessarily be optimal.
I'd wait to see what's available in MIDI mapping mode coming in a not-too-distant release.
Hopefully midi map mode is really just a key/buton remap and doesn't put the unit into MIDI mode and lose HID capability.
This is literally the one and only reason I need to keep my keyboard close by. If there is a way to map this, it would free me from the laptop keyboard.
Does anyway really read teh silk screen anyway? lol I'm with @cpoynter -- having the option would be huge, I don't think that the SHIFT fucntionality is as well mapped, lots of room to add features. When I say SHIFT-Load I really mean SHIFT-browse wheel push, as that has no secondary function currently..
Also, thanks for fixing the preview bug in the upcoming .6 release. Hopefully the slip mode bug is fixed too.
