XDJ-RX2

hey,

well i am not woring for pioneer but in the other posts, they always say that they can not give a date, and will not tell you anything untill the release.

But believe me i have the xdj rx great peace of equipment. really professional i work in clubs with the cdj nexus, and ofcourse this is smaller, but still just as good.

ofcourse there wille me a rx2. but yeah when is always the question.

I use the XDJ-RX just for fun, too, and yeah it makes fun because of the old-school-stand-alone-concept...

Anyway, some improvements like touch Screen would be welcome.

surely if you do not move to release information I think will lose customers, you have seen how many controllers are coming out! Gemini and Denon! new products very competitive and a much lower price!

It's good to hear that other companies jump on the mid-range stand-alone-controller trend, too. This forces Pioneer to perform even better with the next XDJ-RX Mk2 (or XDJ-RZ).

But, don't mix up those cheap controllers with a HQ-product, basically for a gig the sound quality and components are the most important things, not hundreds of features. And as far as I know Pioneer is light years away from the competitors concerning professional equipment. So if they succeed in downsizing their club-equipment to a HQ stand-alone controller in the upcoming version this part could be breathtaking:
- 4 channels
- head phone cueing without loading to a deck
- touch display
- needle search
- full size jog wheels
- sampler
- beat jumping
- more FX like on the CDJ2000

So, I hope all these developments on the market you showed up prod Pioneer to release an even better controller in 2016, cause there is a market for it.

shame and so perfect that if you use it with the master on three quarters and gain a little after half the XDJ rx crashes, remains on the display and you have to turn it off to make it again, and after three times you have to wait 5 minutes before turning it back on, and just a quality controller! and then only costs 1,600 Euros just a deal this rx!

RX is great, but the damn thing is big.  If only it fit in that super-nice pioneer bag...  I'm against full size jogs for this reason.

By headphone cueing without loading, I'm assuming you mean as you scroll through tracks, it plays them out through the headphone interface as you go.  If so, this has been asked a few times, and would be just amazing.  RX as a platform is perfect for this, sadly it can't be implemented on Nexus (unless you do something fancy and bounce the focused track over ethernet to the new mixer;)

Touch screen would be great, one can solve the needle search and keyboard search featurettes with that quite easily.

Beat jumping would be great, but the feature would need to be rolled out across the nexus line for compatibility.

Pioneer is always working on developing new products. We never release any information prior to an official launch.

I don't want to sound like a total jerk when I say this, but if you try the Denon, Numark or Gemini units, you'll see that they're not really "competition." I had a go on them at the NAMM show - the Denon seems like it would be nice, but then you find several small things that simply can't hold up.

Pioneer! Is that true concerning hardware components of the XDJ-RX?

So I just looked at the specs of the two units, and they're virtually identical. Without having further detail or comparing them A/B, I can't say which sounds better.

I meant the Denon unit. ;)

hm, to give some thoughts please don't mix it up, these are 2 questions:

1) Does Pioneer use minor quality audio components in their midrange controller XDJ-RX
2) Does Gemini and Denon use higher quality components in their stand alone controller than Pioneer does?

ad 1:
well, basically it's about electronics. You won't get  a controller significantly cheaper by using "cheaper" ICs, because ICs are cheap anyway. But you can reduce costs of an unit by removing premium hardware parts like full size wheels, like the CD-player functionality or high-end features like hardware needle search, or even reduce a state of the art 4 channel concept to a 2 channel controller. So in my eyes it make no sense to use less performing ICs for the pure basic sound output than they use in there HQ flagships anyway, because they are available and ready. The assumption that the XDJ-RX has to sound poorer in principle is not for sure. Have a look at the specs! On the other hand when you count software features like sound color and beat effects, it seems that some effects are disabled. In principle when designing consumer electronics basically you use the same ICs and solutions you already have developed and then reduce functions, but not use different, "cheaper" ICs (for a posterior developed product) as far as I know: ICs don't cause costs related to other hardware. When a feature is disabled it's because of marketing reasons not to weaken the high-end product line, but I can't imagine that the marketing department forces the developer to reduce the reached sound quality on purpose. So again is it an assumption that the XDJ-RX has to sound worse in principle because of its components?

ad 2: This might be possible to get into the market, but as ICs aren't cost drivers you can't outstand your new product by dramatically improved sound quality but by adding premium features like need search (hardware) or beat jumping (software).

It would be so interesting to know how Pioneer thinks about it :-)

If Pioneer are worried about a potential XDJ-RX2/RZ scalping sales from the NXS2 line then price the aforementioned RX2/RZ accordingly.

There's clearly a market for such a device and I'm sure people would be willing to pay a high price for it.

Pioneer should also take into account lost sales. I for one would never buy a full NXS2 set up just for my bedroom but the RX is a bit limiting for me so atm I'm sticking with Traktor and only use Rekordbox on my mates NXS setup.

A 4 channel XDJ-RZ with all the trimmings would convince me to switch. I got the money sitting here waiting. Your call Pioneer.
