1) In order to remove the tags you must use a tag editor that can read WAV files.
2) The engineering team is looking into options to potentially solve this issue in future releases. Thank you for your patience.
Hi there, recently i have modified a stack of my wav files in rekordbox to display tag information. I didnt think this would be an issue as i was initially under the impression that Rekordbox would not touch the wav file and store locally in the database. However I noticed that indeed Rekordbox has modified the file.
I have read previous forums article and Pulse has stated that" rekordbox writes to the footer (lead-out) section of the track which is the additional information you enter into the fields of the database. This will not corrupt your WAV file as it is lead-in / lead-out data"
I have found that it does infact cause other software programs like Traktor to have a problem reading the file " WARNING: ID tag cannot be read". On the latest version of Traktor this throws up the warning but continues ok. On the earlier versions of Traktor which i use as more stable Traktor will crash.
How can we remove that tag info writain to the wav? why is it stored in the wav file and not rekordbox database? Its causing a problem for Traktor. a big one.

The technical explanation:
As a derivative of RIFF, WAV files can be tagged with metadata in the INFO chunk. Applications may not handle this extra information well or may expect to see it in a particular place. Although the RIFF specification requires that applications ignore chunks they do not recognize, some applications are confused by additional chunks.
I recommend using AIFF files moving forward as they can better handle metadata.
To remove the tag info on your current WAV files, I would try using this free software: http://www.sounddevices.com/products/accessories/software/wave-agent
I agree with @Mark; WAV metadata tagging is not standardized and is a "patch job" to provide data where it was not originally intended. While rekordbox does add some data to the INFO section, if Traktor is having a hard time with it, there may be a problem in how it's written by rekordbox or what Traktor is looking for.
Hi there, thanks for your responses.. I couldnt easily see how to remove the tag info in sound devices that would remove the problem from traktor. I ended up just re-importing my backup wavs which hadnt been touched by Rekordbox into my library.
Curious though. Is this a new thing for Rekordbox to touch the music file? I always loved that rekordbox would leave the file alone and write to its own database.
I will bring this to the attention of the engineering team.
