XDJ-RX - E-8305 unsupported file

Hello,

I imported over 20.000 songs into RB last weeks for having fun with my new xdj-rx.

But at first not all my files are supported. strange mp4, flac acc and some more. After mixing some regex with cmd tools most of files now are supported.

But i not found detailled specs about supported file formats:

All i found was this:

MP3 .mp3 MPEG-1 AUDIO LAYER-3 16 Bit 32 kbps bis 320 kbps 32 kHz, 44,1 kHz, 48 kHz CBR, VBR
MPEG-4 AAC LC 16 Bit 16 kbps bis 320 kbps 32 kHz, 44,1 kHz, 48 kHz CBR, VBR
MPEG-2 AAC LC 16 Bit 16 kbps bis 320 kbps 32 kHz, 44,1 kHz, 48 kHz CBR, VBR
AAC .m4a, .aac und .mp4 WAV .wav WAV 16 Bit, 24 Bit — 44,1 kHz, 48 kHz Unkomprimiertes PCM
AIFF .aif, .aiff AIFF 16 Bit, 24 Bit — 44,1 kHz, 48 kHz Unkomprimiertes PCM

But have a look at this:

Boris_Brejcha_-_Anabella.mp3: 'Rate: 64.000000' 'CRC Error: No' 'Layer: III' 'Original material flag: Yes' 'mono' 'Padding: Yes' '44 kHz'
Boris_Brejcha_-_Brainstopper.mp3: 'Rate: 64.000000' 'CRC Error: No' 'Layer: III' 'Original material flag: Yes' 'mono' 'Padding: Yes' '44 kHz'
Boris_Brejcha_-_Commander_Tom.mp3: 'Rate: 128.000000' 'CRC Error: No' 'Layer: III' 'Original material flag: Yes' 'joint stereo' 'Padding: Yes' '44 kHz'

Third song works on xdj-rx, the other not => E-8305. Is there a mono/stereo "BUG"/"undocumented Feature"?

All the files work fine in recordbox and each other player

I tried:

 - Latest firmware => no fix

 - Playing files over Link on xdj-rx => no fix

 - Exporting files from RB to USB and play from USB => no fix

Any Ideas?

Thanx for your help:)

Greetings

Andy

You were using 64kbit mono encoded MP3s? No wonder it rejected those files, that's horrible quality!

That's likely not what the error came from, but it could have been a bad version of the LAME encoder used to create those files.

OLAH Seitsofa. As you know the digital world is a "magical unexpected world" So I converted all the files (default mode) at Wav or MP3 320kbps to ensure the minimun quality of sound in the mix when i play on public.

E-8035 is an file format error = Unsupported file format (please use a file format recommended)

Take care,

Hi Pedro,

Converting the files to 320kbps will not fix the issue. Because converting kbps alone will not change from mono to stereo?!

I also have this files in different kbps - it is monural the error comes up. And sorry I think most people on public didn't hear the different between mono and stereo, because of the sound is everywhere. Thats what i think, but it is not important what we think and believe. I need facts otherwhise i can go to church.

So my question is, it is a bug with mono files? Its a misstake of missing pieces in documentation, it is a layer 8 problem with my own eyes?

I was reading the documentation befor (otherwise a can't post the supported files above). And i read the doccumentation first time BEFOR I invest at lot of money and now arround 1000 older files in my library didn't work. There is no information in the "recommended file formats" about this - or i was blind to find \o/

Thats why i ask in this forum.

There was no way to get this files working in mono, because the look like supported.

(The is a fail in my script output the files above are 44.1 files but it looks like 44(without the .1)

Hey guys,

I downloaded a wav file and got the unsupported file message when I tried to use it in the xdj-rx system. I used audacity to convert the file to aiff and then it worked fine. Audacity is free, btw.

@Kevin > Without knowing the specs of the original WAV file, it's difficult to say why it wouldn't play.

I had the same problem with an original wav that just sent me back from mastering, you say the problem is because is  mono and not stereo?

All of my tracks that cannot be played on  my xdj-rx2 have one thing in common. A bit rate of 22050. I have had to re-record/redownload these tracks with higher quality/bitrate

Right click one of the column headers in export mode (Collection) and select bitrate as one of the visible columns then filter the column in descending order
