I have a couple questions about recording my sets:
1. Why is there a 3 hour max recording time? In the heat of the moment it's hard to remember to hit the record button again at the three hour mark.
2. Is there any possible way to record my sets without recording the microphone input? I like to record my gigs and post them on Mixcloud, but who wants to hear random announcements and shout-outs after the fact?

2) I'll ask the engineers if it's possible depending on the audio routing configuration. Currently you can only mute the mic from the booth output, not the recording, which is the same as the master, but without going through the master volume control.

So, as I kinda expected, it's not possible to record via USB without the mic being sent to the recording output. If you want to use the mic on the RZ and record your set without the mic, you need to take the booth output and get that signal back into your computer. Sorry!
Is it something the engineers could change in a future software update? Or is it limited by the RZ's hardware?
On a somewhat related note... I've never been able to figure out what the difference is between setting the mixer mode to "external" versus "internal" while using the RZ. What's the difference and is there an advantage to either one?
It's a limitation of the audio bus and not something that can be solved by software or firmware.
The difference in the soundcard setting is purely whether the mixing is being done by software (internal) or hardware (external). There are advantages to each, depending entirely on the software you're using and how you need to configure the audio routing for software functions, effects, etc.
To add a clarification to the post -- rekordbox does not currently create a new file automatically after the 3hr limit, but engineers will be working to address that in a future update. Sorry for the misinformation!
