XDJ-RX external input major bugs

Hi,

I've used my unit with recordbox midi control and external input source last weekend... what a mess!!!

When you switch to the external line you can't use any effects at all!

Second when you add the midi control the headphone cue buttons do not react anymore!

Could you also explain why the effect times are not shown in midi mode. They show just up in usb media input ????

I really don't what you are doing guys but with all the bugs on that device I'm really losing hope in Pioneer DJ .... sorry

Thanks for your reply

@Mike > The effects are not for an external input, they are applied only to USB or ethernet sources (where the audio is being processed within the unit).

If you are in MIDI mode, you will have different functionality for the controls and effects; those knobs and timings are no longer effects, they are sending MIDI signal to software.

This is not a bug but a misunderstanding of the operation of the unit. If you tell me which software you're using, I can assist in explaining the function and control.

Hello and thanks a lot for the reply!

Well pulse I'm very sorry but I have to contradict you. I'm djing for over 20 year now and I think know a little bit how all the signal processing works. I'm using recorbox by the way.

Fact is and I've tried everything out:

The effects are working fine on external sources (color and beat effects) as long as you don't add the recordbox or another dj software, traktor for instance, over midi. But, and here comes the thing why I've wrote that it's a bug, the ONLY effect that still works is the noise color effect ??? Why that ?? So for my logical thinking there is something wrong in the firmware.

Same thing for the beat effects timings in the main screen, they are perfectly visible as long as you don't use midi... why???

I've bought this standalone unit and not a controller for small venues, I have also a CDJ 2000 and DJM 2000 set which works perfectly. But I'm really disappointed because the XDJ-RX seems to be in a beta state.

It's a really cool machine but there to much things who definitely don't work. And that for a price of 1500$ sorry but that's not acceptable.

The other thing is the that I'm not capable to control the XDJ-RX over pro link .... why ? It's the same generation of hardware like the nexus series and thy work perfectly fine.

Thanks for your reply on this :)

Sorry, was thinking of something else -- the COLOR FX and BEAT EFFECTS both work with external line sources, I verified this today. Are you using the latest firmware?

If you're talking about the LED on the headphone cue not illuminating when in MIDI mode, once you have software sending a signal to that LED, it will work - it just doesn't light if you're wanting to monitor the line-in, but it still puts the audio to the headphones. Once in MIDI mode, it's expecting the software to send a signal to light it up per the condition of the software.

Once in MIDI, you lose ALL effects as those buttons and knobs are now available for the software to control.

If you're not able to use the link to rekordbox, please see our troubleshooting guide for some of the common reasons it won't link.

Thanks again for your response.

I will try the troubleshooting for the link problem.

But again to the effects, why are they working when you use midi and USB? An why is still the noise effect working when in line-in mode?

I'm using the latest firmware 2.10

Thanks,

Mike

@Mike > The NOISE effect is technically not a true effect as it is simply a white noise generator.  It creates its own sound and, as such, there need not be an audio signal present to hear the effect as there is with the other FX.

@Mike > The deck illumination would stop if you didn't have a track loaded, but I can see you have one in the display (waveform is showing). Are you able to replicate the conditions to cause that to happen?
