The mixer sounds like it's experiencing a hardware failure; please contact Pioneer DJ technical support in your region to have it serviced.
I'm using a usb 3.0 stick with 2 linked CDJ 2000's connected to a 900 nexus mixer and I've faced the following issue twice playing at the same club:
While mixing a new track in (at a reasonable volume I should add) , mixer levels suddenly go all the way to red. Sounds start cracking and eventually the mixer stops working. After restarting all the devices and trying out multiple ways of playing audio through the mixer I still get no signal whatsoever. Here are the multiple things I tried out:
- Playing vinyl on the phono channels and different inputs.
-Connecting an Aux cable.
- Using different cables completely and connecting a laptop
and the mixer does not seem to get any external audio signal. I should also add, I've tried disconnecting all the cables (including headphones) going in the mixer and restarting the mixer but still get no signal. The other DJ's who've played at the same place have never faced this issue. I'm clueless to what this might be? Could it be the USB stick that I'm using? I've used the same USB for a long time and have never had any issues with it.
I'd greatly appreciate anyone's help who has a solution to this or has faced the same problem.
Thank you.
K

Have you tried to use a different USB flash drive? While it doesn't happen often, they can become corrupt, just like any other harddrive.
@lostnthesound:
I forgot to mention that I tried a back-up USB stick after the crash but then again nothing really worked on the mixer after that incident. Going to buy a new USB and see if this will happen in the next coming weeks. Currently using a SANDISK ultra USB 3.0 128 GB
By the way (and I know this sounds slightly ridiculous) : You think there's the slightest chance this could be because I'm using a USB 3.0 and the CDJ's only read them at 2.0 and a lower data transfer speed?

While the CDJ will certainly read the 3.0 at 2.0 speeds, this should not affect performance and shouldn't be what's causing the issue. Troubleshooting will definitely help reveal whether the culprit is a hardware (Pioneer) issue or an issue with the flash drive. Hopefully it's the later.
