Pioneer Xdjrx

I find this unit very flat and thin sounding. My guess is that the e.q is digitally controlled and the programming is like having a cheap plug-in on Logic, etc.? Or is the ad/da a cheaper version than on nexus series?

Can a firmware update resolve this? Is the math behind all digital going on simply not up par? It all reminds me of digital gear from 2001, these where harsh sounding times that i don´t want to be forced back to..

Love the functions but something is not right sound wise.. /Dj Casca

Yes, it's a less expensive D/A converter in the RX, but as @Tom pointed out, the CDJ-2000NXS2, being our top-of-the-line players (save for the TOUR1 series), they have a much better D/A converter but it also costs a heap more. Sorry!

It is said that the Nexus 2000 has a better sound, I read a review where the made the point of a cheaper sound, so you are correct. If the sound quality is heard through speaker I don't know. In your headphone yes, through studio speakers yes, speakers in a venue or in a big room... I don't know.

2 Nexus = €4400

1 XDJ-RX = €1450

There gotte be a difference

I guess i´m forced to hook up something analogue with a bit of Grab after this unit, perhaps my Rodec with the transistor outputs or some kind of analogue e.q to get some life out of this unit. On a big P.a it´s simply magnified..

To make things worse sometimes you are forced to hook up to thin sounding line arrays with class d amplification.. i miss heavy big speaker towers. where´s my Funktion One´s or Danleys? Any suggestions welcome or this unit will have to go. /Casca

Make sure and try both headphone jacks.  I had an issue with very poor sound quality coming from my new XDJ-RX, was literally like AM radio.  But if I pulled out the 1/8" headphone jack slightly, the sound improved a thousand percent.  Also sounds great using the 1/4" jack, so the 1/8" jack connection seems improperly aligned or something, at least on my unit.
