I was djing last night with rekordbox performance but the usb kept cutting off

Hello.

I was djing last night, 90% of the night it was working fine but for some reason the "printer cable" what they call it lol which was connected from the Nexus 2000 CDJs to my laptop started getting loose and caused the music to stop suddenly. (They are two cables btw and the laptop has 2 ports, I was using a djm 800 mixer so I didn't need a third port). These cables are fine and the ports are fine cause basically I use these same exact cables to connect my microphone in my studio or ableton push or whatever else I could need it for and on the other hand, the ports are fine since I've dj'd before with XDJ RX with the same exact ports and they worked fine, so I'm wondering if the reason is because the laptop is not handling the power from the cdjs? maybe I need a usb hub? any suggestion guys? cause I got the residency in that club and i'll be playing weekly so I'm pretty nervous about next week.
Thank you.

Try swapping USB cables - also check your buffer size. The audio could be cutting out from too low of a buffer size.

Try asking around on another DJ forum too btw, Pioneer official mods stopped responding all together for a while. lol

Hey man. Thanks for responding! Well I doubt it's the buffer size as it's not cutting out because of it, whenever I barely touched the usb cable, the music stops, so it's obviously from the cables, but the cables are fine, like, nothing wrong with them, so do I need a usb hub to connect them to? cause I've read at some posts that a usb hub can help handle power that the laptop can't.. Please let me know your opinion as I don't want it to happen again :( thanks!

If you've tried other USB cables and a light touch is still causing a disconnect, it sounds like there may be an issue with the USB input. Does the problem only occur on a specific input?

A USB hub can certainly help if you discover there's a faulty input. You can connect everything to the hub and then connect the hub to a properly functioning USB input. Just make sure it's an externally powered USB hub and not bus powered.
