Use a USB drive that has been formatted FAT32 or HFS+ in MBR (master boot record) and ensure the update file has been unzipped and placed in the root of the USB drive.
Hi Guys
so...i have serveral CDJ's 900nxs & 2000nxs and have an issue with 1 x 2000nxs:
i am trying to update it to latest firmware (1.43 from 1.41) but it comes up saying:
"Connect USB storage device into top USB port"
thing is the usb device is already in top usb port (as i have used on all other cdjs) but wont read it....)
BUT confusingly when i plug in the same usb in with cdj on as normal it reads it and lets me play music from it.....
now i am quite savvy and know quite abit about repairing and issues with cdjs (other than where to get indestructible play/cue pcbs and tac switches from) but cant work out why this is doing this as the port works fine otherwise....
is there an alternative way to do this? or a way of fixing issue?
Thanks in advance

i have already done this as the usb has been used to update other cdjs and is dedicated for use only to update and test cdjs (as in has music & test tones etc on)
the usb works fine to play audio from while cdj is turned on as normal but when put into update mode on power up it wont recognise that it has a usb in the top port.
will try reformatting now and inform of results
Did you download the firmware with Safari?
firmware was downloaded with google chrome....
problem is now fixed....not really sure how i reformatted usb to suggestions which wouldnt work but then formatted again in another mac and put file on and worked....
WEIRD
thanks guys
Yay for persistence! Glad you got it to update, thanks for writing back.
Hi, have the same problem but it wasnt fixed.
I have the nxs2 and i use a mac for formatting the usb.
the cdj still keeps telling me to ''connect USB...'' but it is already in te top usb port.
What now?
Thanks in advance
@Aleksander > A few steps:
1) Check that the USB drive is formatted to FAT32 or HFS+ with MBR (master boot record)
2) Unzip the UPD file to the root of the USB drive
3) If you downloaded the firmware update file with Safari, it may have corrupted the download when it auto-unzipped it; try using a different browser to download that file
