[DDJ-1000] Audio cuts when applying FX on the master

Good evening!

I believe I found a bug, either with rekordbox or with the DDJ-1000. When applying a beat effect on the master, the audio is cut for a really short amount of time. Here's an audio recording of the problem (available till Saturday 10/03) : https://we.tl/yZRS7eTufG

During the recording, I set the FX level to the minimum, and played with the FX on/off button. Another way to reproduce the bug is to keep the beat FX on and switch the channel select between channel 4 and the master. You get basically the same result.

I hope the bug will be solved soon! (:

Edit : I have the latest software/firmware updates, of course.

Hello all,

Sorry for the very late reply.
Thanks to your report with the recording, DDJ-1000 engineers finally created a beta firmware to fix this issue.
Will you please download and install the both DDJ-1000 firmware and rekordbox beta versions from the link below. You need to update the both at the same time. Otherwise, you will have no effect.

Please provide your honest feedback to us.
Sorry for the lingering inconvenience and thank you for your kind cooperation.

Best regards,
CRM, Pioneer DJ

This is a known issue however due to the design of the audio path, this is an inherent problem. Try lowering your audio buffer for a less noticeable cut.

Oh I think I understand. Could this be solved with a software update? Instead of applying the fx on the master itself, applying it to all the tracks, perhaps ?

No, that wouldn't make a difference, but please try adjusting the buffer size.

Are there any plans to address the issue? Skipping while playing a track is pretty unacceptable, imo.

Adjusting the buffering doesn't solve the issue. Been having this problem ever since I bought the thing. As I understand Pioneer will not (be able to) fix the problem? Similar issues and bugs with the brand new XDJ-RX2. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that a company like Pioneer actually brings products to market for a lot of money while knowing there are issues and doesn't do anything to fix or compensate. And when you fill out a form (twice already) with your issues there is no response whatsoever. Arrogance and a blatant disregard for their paying customers!

@Joey > "...Pioneer will not (be able to) fix the problem?"

Where did you hear that?

"...Pioneer actually brings products to market for a lot of money while knowing there are issues and doesn't do anything to fix or compensate."

Entirely untrue. Our product teams design, manufacture, and test the products before they are released to the public. We never intentionally create problems or release products with issues and then say "Well, to hell with the customer, it's their problem now."

I've been assisting users on the forums for 19 years, and I can tell you the users find things all the time, but none of them were ever intentionally left in a product from our end.

As for your statement about "And when you fill out a form (twice already) with your issues there is no response whatsoever," I only see one ticket from you -- and it was created when you were not signed-in, meaning it wasn't tied to your account, and that's why it slipped between the cracks. I've put a flag for our support agents to respond to your ticket.

Ok, where to begin...

If you read back to Pulse's answer to a fix by software update, he says it wouldn't make a difference. Note the ? at the end of my sentence.

Next, first with the XDJ-RX2 and after returning it for another one twice at the store, and later with the DDJ 1000, which I also returned for another one at the store and we (me and the store clerk) found out that their demo model had the same issues, we tried to reach Pioneer in the Netherlands for any statement or solution. No answer other then that -and I quote- the customer must be doing something wrong. Been waiting for any serious answer from Pioneer ever since.

Also, I never stated Pioneer puts bugs in intentionally, but in all communication on this forum about both the RX2 and the DDJ it is said the issues are known by Pioneer. So if I find multiple bugs in 6 different brand new products within one week, can you blame me for thinking Pioneer brings products to market too soon, with known issues? Maybe Pioneer should start thinking about hiring me to do the product testing before going to market...?!

Lastly, and I guess you have to kinda believe me at my word, I actually filled out a form on this website twice. Logging in to my account wasn't possible for quite some time earlier due to problems with this website, so maybe that is why it wasn't linked to my account. I did however (twice) provide my account email on the form.

I know to you I must sound like some wise ass, which is your right, but I have been using Pioneer products for a very long time and have been DJ-ing since before you started answering people on forums, and up until now never had any major issues. It isn't actually the fact that there are issues, but the lack of response and solutions and the arrogant posture of Pioneer Netherlands that annoy me most.

Thank you for flagging my ticket, all I want is a fix for my DDJ. Which, besides the issue with the Beat FX, is an amazing piece of equipment!

Btw, I also opened a ticket about this issue, and got no answer. (Request #52785)

No need to make an answer, I just wanna make sure the right people got the information.

The "wouldn't make a difference" statement was in response to " applying the fx on the master itself ... perhaps?" -- not to "Could this be solved with a software update?" That was my bad for an ambiguous response.

I'm not suggesting you sound like a wise-ass, that's my job! ;)

Sometimes a lack of response is because there is internal communication going on and there's nothing official to tell you at the time. We get that a lot, mostly due to the translation required for our engineers in Japan.

Yes, issues are discovered and marked as "known" but quite often get fixed. And yes, they do test them - in fact, I've been a product tester for quite some time, with many small issues addressed before products launched, but thanks for the offer.

@Lucas > I've flagged yours as well. Our European support agents have been swamped lately; lots of products on the market = lots of questions.

Forgive me, I just posted a new thread about this without realising it was such a big issue on other peoples units.

So whats the update on this?

I just fail to see how such a fundamental part of the device had an issue like this and it got out the beta stage on 4 occasions (1.00 - 1.04) and nobody realised it was broken.

@pulse, you said you were a product tester for a while now, so are you saying you did NOT spot this on your unit or that your unit was faultless?

On a personal note, I have umpteen mixes to do for magazines and podcasts, which is why i bought this, as well as prepping for my tours, yet i cannot use this DDJ1000 in the state that its in.

Not impressed with the level of QC i have to say.
