How did you clone the drive?
Does it have the same volume name (Mac) or drive letter (Windows) as the one you're replacing? Were you possibly trying to connect both at the same time?
Hey,
Can anyone explain to me why a cloned External SSD that includes the database, does not work with Rekordbox?
When i try to use the cloned drive, it just says it needs to close as the database cannot be found.
How are you supposed to take a backup disk out on the road for safety with you if a clone doesn't work?
Thanks in advance!

Formatted in Disk Utility and cloned with Carbon Copy Cloner, but yeah i named them A and B.
I assume by your answer that they need to both have the same name?
Yes; they should have the same name - all of the path information in the database refers to the path, including the volume name.
Don't connect both drives at the same time, the first would be "MyDriveName" and the duplicate will end up mounted as "MyDriveName2" which is different -- even if they both show the same name on the desktop.
Hey Vince. When you type, clone, does you mean as in copy. Cause when i clone, i just copy the Pioneer and Contents folder. You don't need no cloning program. And if you get a corrupted SSD, just get the playlists that works from another device , and import to RBX and export anew.
I always have my devices renamed in one sentence. like 80s, 90s, Bestof, That way i know it will work on any system. And i use Fat32 gui to format on PC. Works every time. I don't see any meaning to be rocking a slow sd card or usb stick when you can have a superfast ssd for the same price. I only use SSDs from now of. Works perfect. Format fat 32, and keep the devicename simple and don't overload or stock the ssd and you will be fine. leave at least 10-20% free to avoid any problems!
Cheers

Thanks Mdb & Pulse. Got it working now, it was indeed the name.
