Yep, a known issue. The DDJ-1000 has a button to engage/disengage it, no keyboard shortcut required:

Firstly, I am new to Rekordbox (5.2.0). I just purchased a DDJ-1000. Had been using Mixvibes and my CDJ's since I switched from CD to MP3.
What I am finding very difficult is the quantize feature. There does not seem to be anyway to easily tell that it is on or not. If I press the Q key on the keyboard (hotkey) it will switch it on or off, but how do I know at a glance that it is on or off with guessing? I can see a little tiny letter "Q" on the far right under the wave display, which I've gathered from clicking it (and it turning red) that quantize is turned on. If that little tiny "Q" is supposed to be my visual indicator, which I have to say is absolutly ridiculous and horrible, it is not changing state (red/ not red) when I press the Q key on the keyboard. Am I missing something? Is this a bug?
Watching videos on Youtube, I can see there used to be a word-box-button that said "Quantize" nice and clear on the left side of the waveform in older version 4. Why is this gone?
Thanks for the help in advance.

The problem is I am still working with my library in "export mode". I don't have the controller hooked to the laptop right now (nor do I want to). But its good to know that the button is there for when I am actually spinning, which I guess will only serve the function of a live loop. Setting up hot cues, mem cues, and saved loops while not performing is the tough part.
Is there any plans to make the "Q" a little more visible in the software? I mean, even a square around it so that it resembles any other button. I am assuming the bug of it not lighting up is being worked on. Its kind of a bummer to have my first into the software and already hitting a bug. I read so much of other djs's saying that Rekordbox was not ready for "prime time" and I just attribute that to Serato Dj's being "haters". I hope this is not the case, especially while performing.
Sorry, I've been using rekordbox since the first version and I don't see how that "Q" indicator is difficult to identify that Quantize is enabled? I mean, you either use it or you don't...
At a quick glance it is difficult to see, especially depending on what lighting is like. Almost everything else is a button, why not the quantize feature too? The loop feature is a GIANT button to encompass a number (4,8,16 etc.). Why is that not a just a "L" with a number next to it L4, L8, L16, etc.)
The comment "I mean, you either use it or you don't..." makes no sense and has zero relevance in my issue. Sounds like a pompous attempt attempt to say "I'm a real DJ and never use features like quantize so I don't really care if I can see it or not because I never look for it.

The difference is only slight, especially with only one character
