Ddj1000 audio preferences

Hi, I installed rekordbox and ddj 1000 worked fine. The next time I started the display on jogs said no audio device. To cut a long story short I unistalled drivers and went to install again where I got error 002 which is the driver signature error (this was covered in another post by someone else). After turning off drive signature verification still no joy so In the end I changed the driver file name by putting a 1 on the end of version and it installed fine.... However now when I start up the ddj 1000 drivers load and its just crackling latency badly. However I have the option to select windows audio (above asió section) Line (2-pioneer dj ddj 1000) and it works fine.
I'm trying to get an understanding why this is and obviously would like it to work as should as I am not sure what would happen should a second laptop be plugged in (which will happen in future) and the sample rate setting on lowest is 128 not the 64 which it could be. Does this mean it is using the laptop sound card? Which I obviously don't want to and I have to go in settings every time I start up. Using Windows 7 x64 i7 8gb ram.
