DDJ-1000: Latency issues when applying Release FX

Hallo, as the topic says, I am having latency issues when applying Release FX on the DDJ-1000 to either the master channel or the channel that's currently playing.

I changed the buffer size, made it extremely low which gives me audio problems and medium to very long which didn't solve this issue.

I guess it's a firmware issue with the Release FX: Can you please fix this?

Otherwise I will have to sell my unit and I think I'm not the only one.

Your audio buffer should be set to the lowest setting before audio hiccups / glitches occur, which does help the delay in the FX. Our team is working to improve the performance of these effects and hope to have more information soon. Thanks for your feedback.

I will explain this more detailed:

When I apply Release FX, there is a delay in audio, so the audio is delayed and longer for a moment.

When I deactivate the Release FX, the audio delay is negative, so the audio has a hickup in my playback. That sounds very unpleasant in a club. XD

Thank you for your answer!

Actually the audio stream is normal, so I don't think I have to increase the buffer.

It's just that the audio delays for a short time when I apply the Release FX and it goes back to normal which causes a glitch back when I deactivate the Release FX. So I don't think that the buffer has to do with that issue. Apart from that I have already changed the buffer size as I already wrote in my post.

Anyway, I thought that the Release FX are built in, so that the buffer doesn't affect these at all. Or is this not correct?

I hope the issues will be solved soon with a firmware update.

No, those effects are applied by the software, not hardware.

Ok, you don't know what you're talking about. The DDJ-1000 has a standalone mixer. And just to test it, I used an external input without an USB connected. I can apply the built in Release FX to this external input without any problem.

I did not check the hickup with an external signal, but with Rekordbox it is pretty anoying. I am using the v1.0.4 firmware, 5.2.0 rekordbox & macOS 10.13.3.

Yes, it is more than annoying. It makes the whole Beat FX section unusable for me.

By the way, I misread the DDJ-1000 labelling. It is the Beat FX, not the Release FX.

Release FX is what's written under the button, but it's written in white, so it's activated when you press the shift button. So to make it clear, I'm talking about the Beat FX here.

I updated the firmware to 1.04 in hope that something's changed with that behaviour, but to my disappointment, everything is still the same.

I really hope that Pioneer DJ will do something about this.

I think I will return my unit otherwise in the next weeks.

I have to add that this mostly happens on the Master Channel. If I apply this to a single channel, there's no hickup.

@Michelle > Please try lowering the audio buffer in the rekordbox preferences to the lowest possible setting before audio hiccups / dropouts occur to improve the performance of the FX.

I cannot lower the buffer anymore without getting drop outs, It's at 512 samples which is the lowest possible setting for me on my 2011 MacBook Pro with i7 2.7 GHz processor with 16 GB Ram.

My samplerate is set to 512 . I am running it on a MacBook Air with only an i5 and 4GB RAM, but that should not be a problem.

But just to be sure, I will test it with other sample rates too.

Despite different samplerates, the issue persists when working with Rekordbox DJ. But when playing with an external sound source (phono), there is no problem. Annoying, but I trust on Pioneer's engineers/developers to release a fix in the near future.
