Question about Beat Sync Master button on CDJ Nexus/NXS2

First some backstory, last year i played on a party with CDJ Nexus, i was completely new to these players then. The players where connected with DJ link cable. I came from normal CDJ 2000's so no sync is needed to play.

But some strange stuff happened, when i pitched up the tracks the BPMdisplay went orange, removing the pitch to base BPM which made beatmatching impossible. I assume it was because the Beat Sync Master button (that orange one) was active.

In a few months i have my first international gig, with once again with CDJ Nexus or even Nexus 2. I'm scared that this will happen again, this is my big international chance.

Anyone has an idea how to work around this feature without removing the linked features? is there a way to turn this off or prevent this 'pitch block' from happening? can't test myself as i don't own a nexus(2) set at home.

Thanks in advance.

If sync is engaged, you can only change the pitch on the MASTER deck. Trying to change the pitch on the SYNC deck will result in a message onscreen. The way around this would be to manually sync / beatmatch the tracks yourself, or to switch the master deck to that deck and then make the adjustments.

Just make sure that sync is not turned on. If the white sync button, next to the orange master button, is lit up, press it to turn off sync.
