DJM 750 MK2 headphone output problem (tiny buzz)

Hello,

I own a DJM 750 MK2 mixer and two headphones: a HDJ-X10 and a HDJ-500. When I plug one of these headphones in the mixer, there is a tiny noise (a little high frequent buzz) I'm hearing in the headphone. It is small, but I can hear it when no music is playing. As soon the mixer turns on, the small buzz appears. I tried my headphone (HDJ-X10) in a shop on another DJM750MK2 and the same problem occurs. The tiny sound is only in the headphone, not on master outputs. Is someone familiar with this?

Thanks!

Best regards, Thom

There is a small amount of noise inherent in many devices -- does the level of the buzz change with the headphone volume?

Hello. Thank you for your reaction. The amount of buzz-sound is not changing when I change the volume potmeter. The amount of buzz-sound is not changing at all, whatever I do on the mixer. The strange thing is that the hi frequent buzz sound only occurs with the headphones i mentioned. With other headset (like HDJ 1500) it wass almost not hearable. Could it has to do something with the differance in impedance with the headphones?

Best regards, Thom

It's likely not the impedance; the 500's are 45ohm and the X10's and 1500's are 32ohm, all of them are in the same ballpark.

As you note, the only time it's audible is when there's no music playing -- I suspect this is simply the inherent noise of the headphone amplification circuit and while it is audible with nothing playing through the headphones, even some outside noise would possible drown it out making it inaudible.

I don't think it has anything tot do with outside noise. We tested the mentioned headphones on the other mixers in the range (900nxs2) and the sound did not occure. It is only occuring on the 750mk2. It is verry irritating when preparing playlists because there ia not music in the headphones all the time.

The quality of the headphone amplifier in the 750MK2 is not comparable to that of the 900NXS2; it's a lower range product.

That's fair, but I think it's unlikely that this kind of anoying experiance is normal at a product that costs 1200 euro's. Even my previous mixer (750mk1) did not had this kind of output. It's not matching the expected (and proven) and well known quality of Pioneer DJ gear.

Hello, I thinking of buying this model of DJM, that problem could be solved with a new firmware update?

Thanks!

I don't know. It seems to be a hardware issue. If you are going to the shop, take your headphone with you. Plug it into a demo mixer en listen to it with no track playing. You will hear a tiny "white noise" but that has to be clean and no other signal in it. In my case the problem occured with HDJ-500 an HDJ-X10.

I am currently experiencing the same issue. I have tested on multiple headphones and have isolated the mixer from other electronic signals, and am still hearing the faint high pitched buzzing in my headphones. I have even tried both the quarter and eighth inch jacks, still hearing the sound. The volume of the buzz does not change with the headphone volume, it is constant.

Another thing I just noticed is that the noise is more prominent on the Right side of the headphones, and almost imperceptible on the Left channel.

Have others reported problems like this? I would really like to fix this because it's persistent and even audible at times when music is playing.
