Transfer Database to new drive problem

Hi all I'm just wondering if anyone here is an expert in database transfers. I'm having real difficulty making it happen properly.

Currently all my music lives on a external drive named 'DARE1TB' Rekordbox accesses this drive fine when I use my laptop.

But I would like to use the drive with another computer.

When I open Rekordbox and navigate to preferences and select 'Move Databse' I'm given two options, my local drive named 'SpaceBase' and the external 'DARE1TB'. Unfortunately the O.K button is greyed out when I select the external drive.

It makes me think that the database is already on my external so I have tried plugging it into the other computer.

I open Rekordbox and navigate to 'select drive', I select DARE1TB but no option to 'switch' comes up only 'move'.

Anyone have any clues to making this work?

@Dan > Chances are it's not a format rekordbox likes / wants to use. What's the file-system on it? FAT32? NFTS? exFAT? HFS+? AFS?

Hi the drive works with rekordbox. It's HFS+.

I have two additional questions that might help me sort this tangle out if you don't mind.

1. Does the software still say 'switch database' or only 'move' when changing database in preferences.

2. On a mac do you mind explaining what the separate folders do? I see there's one located in mac user library and one located in ap[application support.

Thank you so much.
