newbie with PioneerDJ DMX

hello all,

Today I recieved my PDJ DMX. shame that a lot of fixture where not in the program yet, but i did request them.

Only 2 question, hope you can help, and thanks for that.

1: to get my lights visible in the player I needed to throw away the songs that I already imported and analysed. Analyzing them again with the phrase option did not do the trick. Is this normal, trowing away a lot of work with tags etc.

2: I have 2 showtech clubscanners that are not assigned. They are added as fixture, but can't do much with them or do I need to put them on another assignment as the dmx channels are as they suppose to be assigned on the right movements.

Thanks for your answer ;)

Hi Pat, congrats on getting an RB-DMX1!

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean in the first issue -- you shouldn't need to remove the songs from the collection. Simply analyse them with the PHRASE enabled and they will automatically assign macros to the songs. Can you elaborate on what's happening?

Fixtures are added weekly, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be available or fully functional within rekordbox lighting -- currently only pars, bars, movers, strobes, and pinspots are supported. FX, lasers, foggers, scanners, etc. are not yet supported, some (like FX) may work, but in a very rudimentary fashion. Unfortunately those scanners are not a supported fixture type (yet), even though they are similar to a moving-head.

Thanks for the answer. Hearing this I am very disappointed. From my 5 lights at home, 1 will work, the rest not :(

Looks like I have to send the DMX controller back to the shop, as it is useless for me. There is no ways to control those light in a manual mode ...

I think the way you present this controller to us (public) is a bit strange.

When a light is not supported you can give us (RB) the data and we will add the fixture. But even then when the fixture is there, you still can not use the light???

I understand you want to bring it on the marked, and build you database from there. But be honest about is , and be in that case more fair with the price.

It is crazy to have a 400 EURO controller for controlling 1 lamp...

really some frustration here.... Sorry.

It's not about building the database - there were thousands of fixtures already in the database before we launched rekordbox as we use a 3rd party (AltaBase) library, and users can request the addition of any fixture that is not already available, which is then typically added in less than 2 weeks.

You're correct; there is currently no manual control mode, but this software isn't made to have that - it's for automatically analysing the audio and matching a lighting macro based on the music mood and energy and make the whole process streamlined for a DJ to include a beat-sync'd and music-matched lighting show with very little programming or manual adjustment required.

Regarding other fixture types, it's incredibly difficult to create a consistent lighting show for the wide range of FX fixtures on the market, and their wide range of abilities. Never mind their differing DMX modes / commands. There will be updates to add other fixture types in the future however we do not currently have a timeline for that or other updates. Sorry!
