when i bring tracks into rekordbox, the information shown in the comments section is different than the information shown in my id3 tag editor. Why is this happening?

There's plenty of reasons this might occur, are you using the standard comments field? And I assume this is for an MP3 file?

Yes i am using MP3s. But here is the problem... Nothing is consistent.

Basically when i buy a track i edit it in iTunes to make the information look the same as all my other tracks. All the information in iTunes shows up in my second tag editor which i use to check if it is entered correctly in iTunes. When i use Rekordbox though, if i drag a file from inside of iTunes inside the Rekordbox program, the information stays the same and i can see my edits made in iTunes. But if i drag in the same file from Finder (I'm on a mac using the most up to date software OS High Sierra 10.13.5) then the information that i had entered into iTunes is no longer there and in Rekordbox it goes back to the previous information that was there before i changed it in iTunes. (I also can't click on a track inside iTunes itself and drag it to Rekordbox. I get a message saying:

"Import. One or more files were not imported. Check the log files saved in Documents folder. Import Log -2018-06-22.txt")

But even if i decide to just use the feature of dragging the file in through iTunes inside of Rekordbox, which seems to work, i have two problems. One, is the information i am changing in iTunes not staying with the file outside of Rekordbox and iTunes (meaning one day i may need to use just the files and not iTunes and all the information will be gone)? So that doesn't really work for me. And two, even if i do drag the file from the iTunes screen inside of Rekordbox, when i edi information inside Rekordbox, like say adding My Tags to the comments, which i like to do, sometimes those changes show up in iTunes and sometimes they don't. This means once again that my tags aren't getting written correctly. I have a similar problem with Serato and i can't seem to fix it. I've tried it on other laptops that i've had and encountered the same problem.

Any ideas?

Also, i would like to be able to use files instead of iTunes but the files aren't getting written so I'm not sure what to do. Example: If i import a song from my files instead of iTunes, without the updated information that i would normally add, then when i change the information inside of Rekordbox, I'm not certain that the information is changing on the file and i can't be certain the information will be there the next time i open Rekordbox because for some reason I'm getting different changes on my ID3 Tags instead of it remaining the same across the platform. If i do import a track from the files, then edit it in Rekordbox, even if i close and reopen Rekordbox and the information is there, when i take that file and add it to iTunes, the information i added in Recordbox is gone! So I'm not sure what to do.

Here's one of the problems with iTunes; if you have it set to manage the location of your music files, any changes you make to the tags (eg. the artist name) could end up moving the location of that file automatically. iTunes will know where it moved it, but any other linked application (eg. rekordbox) won't, so it may appear as missing. The first thing you should do (other than stop using iTunes) is to disable the preference allowing iTunes to manage your files.

The next issue -- updates being made in iTunes not reflected in rekordbox; have you tried simply using the "reload tags" function?

As for changes made in rekordbox not being reflected in iTunes; some changes are not made to the file tags themselves, but to the rekordbox database. MyTag is a perfect example of this - that information is not stored on the file, so it wouldn't appear in iTunes.

Ok so with iTunes organizing, the only thing i change in Rekordbox is the Comments section and that doesn't effect the location (i've never had a problem with the location changing).

Regarding the update tags... a new issue. The tracks I bring in from the iTunes section in Rekordbox which usually have the correct tag information that i see in iTunes actually now reverts back to the wrong tags... so that is really bad. But not all of them revert, only some of them and some of them stay the same so there is the issue... Why are some changing and some not?

And yes, i know that the My Tags only show up in Rekordbox, but there is a setting to write them into the comments section, and randomly when i do that, it actually shows up in iTunes, but that was only one time. Otherwise they never show up.

So none of that is it.

And also, pretty much all of the tagging that i do in the comments section is actually from Mixed In Key and that isn't either showing up so i highly doubt it has to do with iTunes alone.

Any ideas?

And also another problem... i took a track that in Rekordbox it wasn't keeping the iTunes tags and made a copy of it. i then brought it into Rekordbox from it's new location outside of iTunes decided to write 'test' in the comments section. When i closed Rekordbox and reopened it, it was still there, and i did reload tag and the 'test' remained, but when i took that file and brought it into my third party Tag Editor, it showed the information that was originally written in iTunes even though Rekordbox didn't show the information from iTunes and i changed the information inside of Rekordbox so it should have changed the tag...

Also, the Key tag from Mixed in Key shows up in the Key section, but the Key tag doesn't show up in the comments section where i like to have it which is also weird.
