Rekordbox Lighting Fixture question

Hey, One additional RB Lighting question (for @Pulse)-

How do we easily set up movers to be constrained to a specific movement? The built in patterns use the entire field of movement which is multiple rotations for most moving heads.  When setting up a fixture, is there a way to restrict movement to a certain DMX values / positions? For example Y axis 1-64 and Y axis 1-32, etc.  I know this is possible in most DMX software but figured it's hidden somewhere in the fixture mapping.  Helps prevent the moving head from pointing at the ceiling for during most of the macros! thanks

There are lots of fixes and features we've recommended to the lighting team for consideration or updates. The software has a lot of potential for growth and we appreciate the feedback and comments.

Can you change the shape/size of the path and then shrink it, move it to a position where it will always be front facing maybe?

Hi thanks for the fast reply!  Yes I can change shape and size, but it seems like I have to do this for each scene and each mover. Is there an easier way?

That I don't know.... I haven't bought it yet... still waiting to be able to change gobos!  I want to have a scene that will show love hearts on the dance floor for weddings...

I would caution you beofre you invest in a RB-DMX-1. I'm a huge fanboy, purchased probably around $20,000k of Pioneer Gear over the last decade and a half (for my personal use, not fora DJ company/club/etc).  Rekordbox lighting was clearly rushed out and isn't quite ready for prime time.  It's great that they've tried to do what SoundSwitch does, but in reality, they should have partnered with them (prior to the InMusic acquisition). I hope Pioneer isn't trying to do be Jack of all Trades master of none, especially with all these new features rolling out (Lyric, RB Video, Lighting mode, etc).

Interestingly, if you look a the RB-DMX-1 intro videos with Rekordbox Light was introduced, the videos all show the moving heads with gobos on. Kind of deceiving since all you get is big giant beams of light :(   I've got 2 weeks left on my return period so will see if any updates come out.  The last update was when it launched in May so hopefully they've got a few things up their sleeves, eg. gobo change, better scenes, more intuitive editing, etc.

Thanks for the comment DJ Chase. Yes these are all my concerns too. I'm also confused as to what happens when you're not playing any music at all?  Like during speeches etc. Is it possible to have a scene running that doesn't require a song playing?  I cannot see any mention of this - like a default scene that plays when no tracks are playing??

There is no mention of this anyway. It should be easy for the developers to allow us to implement some basic static scenes. Even if we have to program everything manually with DMX faders!!  For example, I'd love to map some buttons to a scene which turns all the uplights to a static color, turns off all the dancefloor facing lights, and have some of the movers point to a ceiling and turn rotate the gobo slowly for ambiance at say 25% dimmer. Creating this in most DMX software takes 5 mins and then can be assigned to a button.  I have a handful of  scenes like this set up in myDMX and have it mapped to one of 64 buttons on my Akai midi controller.

In my limited experience with Rekordbox if there is no phase analysis and/or if no track is playing, the controlled lights default to OFF (which is a good implementation) until custom scenes are added.
