XDJ-RX2 Slip Mode Hot Cues Jump back after 2 seconds

Hello, I found a post from October with the same issue and no one has responded:

When you activate the slip mode and press a hot cue, the playback jumps to the hot cue point while it is held down but only for a couple of seconds. The track will jump back to where it is in time even though I am still holding down the pad.

I've tried this over Link, USB, and have tried numerous tracks and they all do the same thing.

That's how SLIP mode works, the intention isn't to have continuous playback, and the memory buffer for that function is only so big, so regardless of how long you hold it, the playback eventually jumps back to the main "slipped" position.

Update: I read through the manual and found the answer:
"At the point 4 beats after hot cueing begins, slip hot cue mode is automatically canceled and normal playback of the sound that was playing in the background resumes"

I understand why this does not apply with Rekordbox in Performance Mode and the XDJ in MIDI mode: only the software supports the holding of the cue button as long as you want and it will not cancel until you let it go. Thanks again!

Thank you for your response. I understand how slip works and I have seen videos where they hold the hot cue and the track will play from that point for 3-5 seconds or more. My issue is that regardless of the track, regardless of memory buffer, it only plays for about 2 seconds and then jumps to the current position. Like if I want to slip/hot cue a vocal it will only play a small part of the beginning and then cuts off because it jumps to the current play position

Also, while in Performance/MIDI mode, the Slip/Hot Cue plays the track from that cue as long as I have the pad pressed. It will jump to the current play position when I let it go. It will not jump after 2 seconds like it does in standalone or Link mode

If you are simply jumping to another part of the song with a hot cue, it will play indefinitely. With SLIP engaged, the player needs a memory buffer for both the playback position and the slipped position, thus reducing the available jump time.
