Lighting options question

Is there a place to read about what settings inside lighting mode do exactly? What I’m looking for specifically is how assigning lights changes how they act during playback.

For example, if my ParFX 9 is run as a par, how does it act differently than if I assign it the roll of “par (simple)” or strobe, etc.

The reason I ask is that I use a Chauvet colorstrip under my table to light it. So I assigned it “bar 1”, but it didn’t go on/stay on as often as I’d like, so I had to assign it as a par. But ultimately, I’d like to know what each assignment does so that I can set up my lights without guessing... I’d like to be more intentional about which light does what.

Thanks!

Well, for starters, different fixtures will have different functions or uses. A strobe doesn't have any colour or fading. The "simple" fixture types have their own, more simplistic, macro functions.

rekordbox lighting isn't designed to "light a bar under the table" - all connected fixtures are "part of the show" and respond as they are programmed within the macros. There's no static function (but there have been many requests for it, so hopefully in the future!).

You are always best to assign the fixture to match its device type, as there may be more for bars over pars in future updates (eg. pixel / segment mapping).

If you open any lighting macro you can see what is assigned to each of the fixture types, and even change them as you desire.
